A screening of a controversial documentary on the history of Islam has been cancelled on security advice after its presenter was threatened.
Holland was threatened online with a torrent of abusive messages on Twitter.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "Having taken security advice, we have reluctantly cancelled a planned screening of the programme Islam: The Untold Story. We remain extremely proud of the film which is still available to view on 4oD."
The private screening was due to take place at the broadcaster's London headquarters on Thursday before an audience of historians and "opinion formers".
The documentary is due to be repeated late on Thursday night and can be viewed online.

The programme has already been shown (to critical acclaim and a high audience for CH4).
The repeat is due this week (I had ‘SkyPlussed it’-——skyplus is our TIVO).

The term ‘screening’ in this report is misleading, as it can easily be read as meaning that the documentary was not broadcast. The ‘screening’ referred to is in front of a live audience - the show has already been broadcast.
Incidentally, I believe that no Channel 4 online repeats can be viewed through U.S. servers - presumably for some contractual or licensing reason. So that has nothing to do with this particular show.
As Winnie has pointed out, the cancelled showing was a public showing, not the TV repeat, which as I said in my last post is due on this week. And is still on my TV planner. So CH4 is clearly going to show it, albeit not publicly due to genuine security fears.
And no, I wouldnt have cancelled that either. Although I understand why CH4 have.
