Harvard basketball star Kyle Casey will leave the university due to his involvement in a cheating scandal.
Casey will withdraw from school instead of enrolling for the fall semester and attempting to fight the charges, according to a report from Luke Winn of SportsIllustrated.com. Winn notes that Casey would lose his final year of eligibility if any action to clear his name failed.
Dean of Undergraduate Education Jay Harris wrote a letter to the student body regarding the incident and said, via Boston.com:
"The College Administrative Board is currently reviewing allegations that students in one spring class may have committed acts of academic dishonesty, ranging from inappropriate collaboration to outright plagiarism, on a take-home final exam."
Winn notes that the spring class was Government 1310: Introduction to Congress, and that guard Brandyn Curry "has also been implicated in the scandal."
Harvard is coming off a 26-5 season in which they went 12-2 in Ivy League games to win the conference for the first time in school history. The Crimson went to the NCAA tournament as a No. 12 seed and lost 79-70 to Vanderbilt in the first round.
Both Casey and Curry played instrumental roles in the teams success. Casey was the teams leading scorer with 11.4 points per game. The 67 forward shot 51.2 percent from the floor and grabbed 5.5 rebounds per game.
Curry played 30.3 minutes per game for Harvard, making him coach Tommy Amakers second-most used player last season. The 61 guard led the team with 4.9 assists per game while also scoring 7.9 points per game.
Winn notes that Curry has not made a decision on whether or not he will follow Casey and withdraw from school.
The two players were set to be senior co-captains this season
Quickly!
He has great talent in basketball, but was lacking in ethics and common sense.

A take-home Final Exam? What could possibly go wrong?
Jeez, it must be pretty bad if this genius can’t smoke a take home exam. Too bad the university couldn’t figure out a way to cover up for the cheating “star”.
I’m sure the NBA will welcome him with open arms.
What is with all of these final take home exams? That is nonsense. When I was in college back in the 1960s, final exams were administered in the college gyms. The test taker sitting at the desk on either side of you was taking a different course exam. There was a space between you and the test taker in front and behind you. Every test taker had to place their college photo IDs on their desk (essentially a small fold up table with no place to hide anything). There were numerous proctors walking about, and it was quite easy to match photo IDs with the face of the person taking the exam.
Take home exams are a part of the liberal dumbing down. It is asking for, begging for and inviting cheating. If they did not want students to cheat, they would give their finals in supervised exam halls.
“Harvard basketball star ...”
Is that as meritorious as a U of F Law Graduate?
The class was “Introduction to Congress” and he cheated. I would say he has complete comprehension of congress. A+, pass, next.
“A take-home Final Exam? What could possibly go wrong?”
I guess he’s just not “Harvard material.”
But you would think that the students who were doing his schoolwork for him would be smarter about not getting caught. /s
Oh no.....did the guy say he was an Indian? I don’t think Harvard can go after cheaters and still keep Paleface Dizzy Lizzy Warren on staff. Harvard’s motto is “TRUTH”.
