UP TO a dozen properties have been raided in a joint state and federal police operation today.
Victoria Police officers and agents from the Australian Federal Police were involved in the swoops.
It is believed most of the raids happened in the south-eastern suburbs.
A spokesman for the Islamic Council of Victoria, which was in talks with the AFP tonight, confirmed one person had been arrested but said no one had been charged.
The Islamic Council of Victoria was this afternoon briefed by Victoria Police about the raids.
There are alleged links between the raids and the Al Furqan Centre, a community body in Springvale.
Council secretary Sherene Hassan said the organization was concerned at any terrorism allegations.

The Islamic Council of Victoria seem to be among ‘the good guys’ in this case - they honestly do. Their members largely come from nations that have been torn apart by violence, and they don’t want Australia to go that way. They often pass on information about radicals and other threats.
That’s why they get briefings in cases like this.
