The fact that we did not have Marines guarding the consulate in Benghazi, where the al Qaeda flag flies in many quarters, is the epitome of ignorance and incompetence.
No doubt the reason we didn’t have Marines on site was to avoid offending the peaceful local Muslims. That Obama prioritized Muslim sensitivities over the safety of our consulate and people is borderline criminal.

If I recall correctly the Marines are facility guards whereas VIPs are provided a Personal Security Detail (PSD) which is usually comprised of contractors, local or otherwise, on contract to the State Dept.

They cannot refuse to allow us to bring in anything via diplomatic pouch. I am quite certain that we could bring in a bunch of equipment - in pieces, if necessary - via such a method. Once inside the embassy grounds, we're on American territory, and OUR law governs.

I'd have every embassy in any country that could remotely be considered hostile armed with several belt-fed .50s, along with at least 10,000 rounds of ammo per. Host governments don't like it, then we pack up and leave, but not before air-mailing them a parting gift. Why are there no dead muzzys? I would think if the Marines were there then some enemy should be dead right now.

The marines were there, did they have rounds for their guns and were they told to stand down?
It seems that there were no dead muslims at all and no way I am thinking that if the marines were allowed to defend American territory and defend themselves there would be no dead.
Questions like this need to be asked as what is the point of having marines there wiht guns if they can;t use them.
