PINELLAS PARK The man shot by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper Monday morning at a Pinellas Park cemetery was the cemetery's owner a Tampa man who lives in a 7,000-square-foot home, has no criminal history and has held a concealed-weapons permit.
Clifford F. Work remained hospitalized in fair condition Tuesday at Bayfront Medical Center as questions remained about why Trooper Daniel Cole, a 13-year FHP veteran, shot the 48-year-old businessman.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting, which is the latest in a string of incidents throughout Cole's career in which his actions have been scrutinized.

LoJack boxes on motorcycles can be easily removed and slapped on another passing vehicle.
Cemetery ownership is a “business”
What else would you call it?
Of course it is. Clients are just dieing to get in there.
Defense attorney to jury:
“My client acted according to his training and because of the environment in which the incident took place, he was resonably afraid for his life.”
Once again, paramilitary forces masquerading as cops behaving badly.
And he won’t even get a brand on his thumb.
I am most definitely investing in concealed lightweight under clothing ballistic body armor.
This is the same trooper who tased a handcuffed woman who tried to run away. The woman’s head bounced off the pavement and put her into a coma. I remember that one.
He was too fat to run after her - seriously.
Let’s see if the good ol’ boy network covers for him again.
The policeman had good reason to be afraid. There were dead people all around.
A "shootout" implies shots being traded. He shot an unarmed man in the hand in 2001, tased a handcuffed woman last year, and now shoots this legally armed business owner. Sure, OK.
Don’t worry about that, they will if they haven’t already. In addition to them, the cops-can-do-no-wrong crowd wil be along shortly to opine how the man deserved to be shot.
The article states, “Just because he acted properly or improperly in the past doesn’t make this incident proper or improper”. WTH? Of course it does! Why would the article mention that the graveyard owner has no previous arrests? Previous behavior is an indicator of future behavior... sounds to me like the police department is already covering its butt. IMHO.
Glad the guy didnt have a dog.
The mention of the size of his house in the article puts everything into perspective for me.
Who are every bit as distasteful as the cops-are-never-right crowd.
As long as cops are required to be human, there will be heroes and thugs. The heroes need to be backed when they out the thugs, not attacked by the union.
I think she (Danielle Maudsley) was declared brain dead and has never recovered.

“Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting, which is the latest in a string of incidents throughout Cole’s career in which his actions have been scrutinized.”
How many incidents does it take to make a string? And how many incidents before he’s removed from LE?
Shooting people at the graveyard is simple efficiency, now if the undertaker just had his business there too huge amounts of gasoline could be saved each year.
