Yes, the camera’s distortion would have you believe the woman is only 4 feet tall. The text says the dog is 3’8” from foot to shoulder.
Skinner than Ann Coulter
Skip the sympathy.
Send cash.
;D
Skinner than Ann Coulter
And no doubt quite smarter than you.
... yet more substantial. Friendlier looking, too.
There’s no such thing as a “Warlock Dobermann”.
Some greedy, uncaring idiots bred grossly over-sized Dobermanns and gave them a name that makes it seem like they had something to do with Borong, which they did not.
There’s also “King Dobermanns” and a whole bunch of other BS “bloodlines” out there.
Avoid them.
They have been willfully destroying the breed for decades.
I *hope* the dog is just standing in a weird position because that top line and the angle of the hips scares the bejeebers outta me.
Anybody else remember when Danes were large, solid, square dogs who weren’t insanely “overdone”?
Bigger is rarely better.
He's thin and his proportions are strange. Early neutering will cause the bones to grow up and up and not widen out - you tend to get males that are very tall and narrow.
Yes, a German mastiff bred to hunt boar. The ears were docked so they didn't get shredded in thickets.
Haven’t had Dobies since I was a youngin’. Good to know that information. Thank you.
Yup.
*Functional* dogs.
What a crazy concept.
:P
And I suppose Odhinn has you pinned to the ground, growling “Where’s the money, woman? Pay up or-—”
;)
Ironically, I ~just~ called a woman about a Dobe bitch she had for sale.
Listened to the blah blah blah for a bit and asked the question, “So...what are her lines?”
“She’s a Warlock!”
*click*
Actually I tried to explain to her the Warlock myth and even mentioned that the most notable kennel to actually sort of have “Warlock Dobes” was Kay Hill who bred Ch. Kay Hill’s Paint The Town Red to Borong way back in the distant past and established her incredible linebreds through his daughter, Kayhill’s Witch Soubretta.
Ch. Kay Hill’s Witch Soubretta, was the top producing Dobermann dam in this country for many, many years.
[She was the foundation of the Tannenwald line (now defunct), but this is another avenue by which you’ll find many, many dogs alive today who go back to Witch Soubretta and then Borong The Warlock.]
In one ear...out the other.
“No! She’s a Warlock!”
Her male “weighs 140 pounds!”
My dog has Borong repeated several times in his extended pedigree....but he’s not a “Warlock”.
*sigh*
The search continues.
I take it Borong is a doberman.
Since Friday Night is “Doberman History” night on Free Republic
(What? You didn’t KNOW?)
Care to elaborate?
He’s currently gnawing a huge 4 point antler.
[for all I know, that *is* “dog money”]
;]
Lord I hope he doesn’t swing it my way and poke my eye out.
@ momtothree lol Me, too. (The melee would just *love* that /s They think big dogs are lunch. Little monsters)
Thanks for that info, Salamander. I’d never heard that & will share. Gorgeous, gorgeous dog, though. I immediately thought of Hound of the Baskervilles.

Borong was one of The Great Ones.
Not only was he a perfect specimen of his breed, he embodied the legendary loyalty of the Dobermann.
When his owner/handler, Henry Framptom suddenly died of a hear attack, Borong was barely a week behind him.
All who knew of the bond between them agreed that Borong simply did not want to live without his beloved master.

Interesting. Thanks.
