I heard a very interesting report on public radio this evening from a man (I think Jewish) who has lived in Egypt many years. He said the first day the demonstrators were Salafis (they had the tradition full beards and clothing) and these demonstrations were non-violent. They second day when things got really rough in Egypt the Salafis had slipped away and been replaced by violent extremist. They were dressed in T shirts and other student western style clothing. Then Morsi declared their behavior unacceptable and ordered police measures.
