Radical Islam realizes that if Obama loses they may have only until January 20 before the U.S. goes back to a hard-line stance.

Saudi Arabia is armed to the teeth with American weapons. They should have no trouble defending Kuwait.

Kuwait may have some problems with Saudi defending them.
Or at any rate, I doubt the Kuwaitis want to be in a position where their defense is mainly up to the Saudis.

The Americans are much less complicated defenders.

Leave them alone and their ancient schisms will keep that part of the world in check. That’s one reason that I hope we can avoid war with Iran. A strong Iran can be the most effective balance to a militant Sunnism. And in the long-run, Israel and Iran share geopolitical interests in war can be avoided.

Maybe we could encourage Iraq to incorporate Kuwait as a province of Iraq...

I actually hope they would try. They would never be able to consolidate their holdings by January. At that point one of two things happen, both very good for us. One we are suddenly no longer the Great Satan, but the guys who can keep Iran out of the Saudi Oil Fields. The MB gets put back in a can and we get a free hand to crush the Iranians. All good. Probability 20%

Option two: Iran snags Kuwait and Saudi. Egypt and the other Arab Muslims go after Iran to free Mecca from the Persians. Millions of people who hate us wipe each other out. We get to sell weapons at jacked up prices to the Arabs. With oil from the Middle East cut off there no alternative but to put the EPA up against the wall, or at least onto the street, and drill baby drill in the US. Net result, we are energy independent, the power of the EPA and environmentalist movement is destroyed, people go back to work building weapons for the Muslims to kill each other with and millions of our enemies are dead. All good. Probability 80%

That part of the world enjoyed a stable, if often violent, balance of power for hundreds of years without American intervention. It’s high time we quit thinking of every upheaval on the other side of the world as a threat to national survival. Our republic can not long survive a state of constant and endless crises.

When a country is in the kind of situation Iran is in,then starting a kind of conflict much like Saddam did starts to seem to make sense.

Of course, even with the way America has uh “slowed down” in terms of actions overseas....an Invasion could and would be easily stopped.

The development of national energy independence is security task number one. Until then, we need to build up a national reserve to keep us going long enough for the other side to figure out who’s going to sell us the oil. Because they have to sell us the oil- they can’t eat it.
