Armada Of British Naval Power Massing In The Gulf As Israel Prepares An Iran Strike An armada of US and British naval power is massing in the Persian Gulf in the belief that Israel is considering a pre-emptive strike against Irans covert nuclear weapons programme.
The Strait of Hormuz is only 21 miles wide at its narrowest point By Sean Rayment 15 Sep 2012 Battleships, aircraft carriers, minesweepers and submarines from 25 nations are converging on the strategically important Strait of Hormuz in an unprecedented show of force as Israel and Iran move towards the brink of war.
Western leaders are convinced that Iran will retaliate to any attack by attempting to mine or blockade the shipping lane through which passes around 18 million barrels of oil every day, approximately 35 per cent of the worlds petroleum traded by sea.
A blockade would have a catastrophic effect on the fragile economies of Britain, Europe the United States and Japan, all of which rely heavily on oil and gas supplies from the Gulf.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the worlds most congested international waterways. It is only 21 miles wide at its narrowest point and is bordered by the Iranian coast to the north and the United Arab Emirates to the south.
In preparation for any pre-emptive or retaliatory action by Iran, warships from more than 25 countries, including the United States, Britain, France, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, will today begin an annual 12-day exercise.

A thought just crossed my mind...In order to add to our enjoyment of having a Great Leader in Hussein Obama $5.00 or $ 6.00 per gallon of gas would be a blast, don’t you think?
Archduke Ferdinand’s murderer did not spark WWI.
Ah yes, the dark star. How awesome and stupid is human ingenuity.
It’s widely acknowledged that Franz Ferdinand’s assassination was the catalyst setting off the events that sparked WWI.
From what history book did you take your lessons?
Considering the size of Israel, the danger of being overrun will be too late to use nukes.
I suppose it would depend on what criteria they would use to determine that danger. The way it looks over there they've been under that very threat for a long time now.Waiting for them to pour over the borders would be too late.
Here's praying we can all be still and know that God is God.
“British Naval Power” is an oxymoron.
The catalyst setting off the events that sparked it? Why not the cause of the catalyst for the setting off of the spark? Or the inspiration for the cause of the catalyst for the setting off of the spark? Or the old college roommate of the next door neighbor of the inspiration for the cause of the catalyst for the setting off of the spark? How far back you wanna go? I can make it to Cain and Abel, but you’ll have to help me after that.
“From what history book did you take your lessons?”
Plenty. There’s “Europe’s Last Summer,” by David Fromkin. “Closing Pandora’s Box,” Patrick Flynn. “The Origins of War,” Donald Kagan. I can’t recall the classic revision of the revisionists
It’s hard to imagine Israeli intelligence would have missed that one.
“. . . his hordes of useful infidels . . baring their fangs too early . . “
I see you get the picture pretty clearly. It’s funny the main theme of all these global “demonstrations” are tied together by Guy Fawkes masks; and how the trashy “Code Pink” Feminazis seem to have been in lock step with the Arab Spring demonstrations, the Occupy marches, etc.

I have no idea what sort of revisionist history you might be reading, but the evidence is overwhelmingly against your point of view.
No historian in the annals of time can point to singular causes for war. They're often as complex as the humans who start them, but historians generally agree on causation, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand is widely accepted as the event that lit the fire on the WWI powder keg.
A lot of what everyone knows is bullcrap. Marie Antoinette didn’t say “Let them eat cake, “ WWII didn’t cure the Great Depression, and an assassination didn’t cause WWI.
LMFAO!
You’re directly questioning one of the most widely-accepted facts of the 20th century. Kids from 6th grade through high school and college are taught this.
I don’t give a rip what your personal opinion is on it. You’d have to convince far greater people than me that your view on the event is right/correct/proper/appropriate/whatever.
EMP is their trump card. The way I calculate it, three well placed EMP blasts would wipe out enough around them to lat them go on the offensive with virtually nothing to slow them down but regular bullets, knives, pitchforks and such.
They will own the night because everyone else will be totally in the dark. Two maybe three days of operations and let the rest take care of itself. The muzzies will be eating their camels and each other within a month.
unless Obama is not around sooner
This is hugh and series! From the article, could someone name the Battleships that are in this armada? Would love to see pictures of them too!
All this time, I was deluded into thinking the last Battleship was retired from service, or, did we oommission a new rail-gun BB and I missed it’s launch? Or maybe another country has active duty BBs?
Need a FRiend to enlighten me!
Blather from Armageddonists and know-nothing press. This is an annual military exercise.
The upgrades they've made are impressive...
As you noted, there is not a single battleship on active service anywhere in the world. All have been retired from service.
I guess the author wanted to ratchet up the drama by including battleships. Kind of makes you wonder how accurate the rest of the article is.
