Things are worse than that for copper, m'friend: we're not talking about just empty buildings, not at all. We're talking about empty **cities**. Not just 1, either, but (depending on whose count you accept) between 28 and 49 cities each with a putative capacity of 10,000,000 people. Completely empty, theoretically liveable cities. Can you imagine?

This, any way you stack it, represents a shjt-pot full of copper which will slowly (as the scavengers come out, which they will without fail over time) feed its way back into the mkt.

Hey, how’s it going?

I’m a little skeptical of scavengers taking apart newly-constructed but vacant bldgs. in China. Somehow, I doubt their gov’t would allow this in any kind of depth without shooting the scavengers on sight, which could have a chilling effect. Those bldgs are directly or indirectly government owned. Whether or not the Chicom gov’t allows potential revolutionaries to move into such housing as a means of appeasing them, if that housing gets trashed, then even the *promise* of letting people move in goes away. I don’t think they would let that happen, when you consider that only a few soldiers stationed at the entrances to those large apartment blocks could keep a 100% unarmed populace from entering and trashing the place.

Now I certainly see a demand downturn in China because plenty of stockpiled copper was and is there as in effect, bullion, acting as collateral for loans. I first heard of this some time ago, that this material was being imported and stockpiled, then borrowed against, also as a means of getting currency out of the country.

Besides...we could both be right. 2015 is a fair distance away. In between now and then, lots could happen. I don’t see copper going to the moon, not even doubling, in fact, I am getting ready to sell about 120 lbs of the stuff, close as I can to $4, that I tore out the house I am in now, having rewired it.

I hope to get a 10 oz bar of Ag out of it...you know, just for compactness sake!
