Stuart Stevens, Mitt Romneys top strategist, knew his candidates convention speech needed a memorable mix of loft and grace if he was going to bound out of Tampa with an authentic chance to win the presidency. So Stevens, bypassing the speechwriting staff at the campaigns Boston headquarters, assigned the sensitive task of drafting it to Peter Wehner, a veteran of the last three Republican White Houses and one of the partys smarter wordsmiths.
Not a word Wehner wrote was ever spoken.

It will be so sweet on election night when these Leftist traitors will be writhing on the floor choking on their words.
I read the whole story and found it to be a yawner. No big revelation, just a headline to spread the idea Romney is losing.
I thought it was great!
>>>”This article is based on accounts from Romney aides, advisers and friends, most of whom refused to speak on the record”
Thanks for posting, but I wouldn’t put any stock in the facts or conclusions given the source and the sourcing.
meme of the day from the Obama press office.
You will notice similar stories in the Wash Post and other Obama outlets
I didn’t like “This president can ask us to be patient. This president can tell us it was someone else’s fault”. Which of course got the most coverage by the MSM.
That sucked really bad.
Yeah, I can certainly think of one which purports to be "objective" but spouts BO/DNC talking points on a regular basis.
It's a fun kind of game, seeing and tracing the oil slick of lies in the water as it moves downstream, you know the source of it...
Ho hum. Another weekend of “Romney can do no right, Obama is inevitable” stories. Getting old at this point.
Politico had become a bit dodgy as far as I’m concerned. Has there been a recent change of ownership or management within the last 12 months?
Many of their opinion pieces are presented as established fact.
As far as I’m concerned all Romney needs is a coherent message. Any message as long as it’s coherent and continuous through the election is going to beat Obama. He doesn’t need to stoop as low as Obama or be as ‘lofty’ as Reagan.
We haven’t had the debates yet, I find it curious that the News media is trying to call it an Obama win. Oh yeah, we’ll see. Romney is under estimated, constantly. He has been successful for a reason. Obama is just a Marxist, and he’s not nearly as likeable as everyone keeps saying. That’s just a bunch of hype. The truth is, Obama is hateful and dishonest. Not likable, a typical Marxist.
99% of the entire media is DNC controlled.
Mitts ahead by 10 pct right now.
I don’t think he’s ahead by 10%. Rasmussen has it about right: Mitt is ahead by approximately 2% right now with 7% still undecided. He’s on track for a solid electoral victory. It’s no coincidence that this crooked MSM attack and a bunch of phony biased polls happened just after the State Department’s disaster in Libya. This is the MSM’s croooked, dishonest attempt to contain the damage to Obama from the disastrous terrorist attack in Libya.
And not nearly as bright as Mr. Romney. Oh, did I say that
out loud?
