A college professor has been placed on leave after she allegedly forced her class to sign a pledge to vote for President Obama in the upcoming elections.
Early last week Professor Sharon Sweet at Brevard Community College (BCC) allegedly told students to sign a pledge that reads: I pledge to vote for President Obama and Democrats up and down the ticket.
The pledge was printed off of GottaVote.org, a website funded by the Obama campaign.
University administrators said they learned about the incident late Thursday afternoon and launched an investigation, after they received a phone call from a concerned parent.
Based on the allegations, Associate Professor Sweet has requested, and been granted, a leave of absence without pay effective immediately, reads a statement put out by John Glisch, Associate Vice President for Communications at BCC.

Nothing will happen to that crazy you-know-what.
Isn’t such a “pledge” a requirement for employment as a “journalist” at the major tv “news” networks? She can sub for Andrea Mitchell and she’s probably younger and (undoubtedly, since it wouldn’t take much) better looking. There would be no difference in the “news” contenct.
This country is all about freedom - the freedom to vote any way your betters tell you to. Or else.
I live in Brevard and called today...
“We have nothing to say on the matter”...click!
Guess they got a lot of calls!
Good news! I read about this issue yesterday on FR. I sincerely doubt that the college responded to a “concerned parent”. More likely an avalanche of e- mails from all over the country.
fire her for hate speech
Sort of makes you wonder about the character and spine (or lack thereof) of any student that would actually sign the pledge!!!!!!
Early last week Professor Sharon Sweet at Brevard Community College (BCC)...University administrators said they learned about the incident late Thursday...
Is it a Community College or a University?
Her big mistake was leaving paper trail otherwise:
1. Electioneer students who look up to your position as a teacher.
2. 'Encourage' foreign born employees whose check you sign to seek citizenship and vote for Obama.
3. Just be cool and don't get caught with your hands in the cookie jar.
She’s a Union officer.
Part of their mission statement, “....
Taking appropriate political action that will promote passage of progressive legislation to improve the economic and educational condition of society....”
We who live here say Community College. Credits do apply to further study at Florida State Universities...maybe it’s all in the semantics?
No, these people aren’t reminiscent of the Hitler movement at all.
In a prior thread, she was teaching math at the community college. WTF? With those qualifications? What else was she doing that got her a job for which she seems to lack even the scent of a qualification?
Brown Sugar Sweet?
I think there out to be a law that criminalizes voter fraud,
voter coercion, and voter intimidation, and it should be classified as a felony, with mandatory prison time, and loss of a job where that kind of intimidation and coercion is from a person in authority.
someone should take professor Sweet into a closet and spank her ass real good .
“..after they received a phone call from a concerned parent.’
Didn’t any students complain? Or have they all drunk the Kool Aid?
I like what I’m seeing from Campus Reform! Keep up the good work!
I would sign the pledge, then vote MY choice. If asked who I voted for, I would tell the Marxist b***h what she wanted to hear. After graduation, however, when the alumni association asked for money, the answer would be FOAD, and I would tell them why.
You got to scroll down an 1" to read previous to that, she was an Art and Math major at Bard, for maybe, 3 years at best. No degree listed, so I'm inferring that she didn't finish.
A week or so ago, there was a thread on a Brooklyn congresscritter whose house.gov bio only lists her honorary Doctorate Law Degree.
You would not believe how far some places would go to get the number of affirmative action hires. One place, a major engineering company, hired a woman whose background was a science teacher (and a degree from a teaching college no less) as a control systems engineer. Needless to say, useless.
Suspended? They need to fire her goatsmellin’ ass.
And I didn’t need to see her butt ugly picture to know what she looked like.
After logging on to Stormfront to view Prof Sweet's mug shot I feel like I need to take a shower and scrub with 36 grit sandpaper and antiseptic soap.
Idiocy on parade.
That was my reaction to the article. It reminded me of when I went to college after serving in the US Army Infantry (11C1P HooAH!)
I had this Psych Prof, named Joe Hanack (sp) and he thought my buddy (who also just finished his enlistment) were the evil twins and would go out of his way to insult the Armed Forces and its Vets. After a couple of his jabs I figured that it was going to be a long course if I didnt say anything so I got up and went off on how it takes people like “the evil twins” to step forward and defend the pantywaists in this country who wont stand up and fight. Sure you are all high and mighty with your freedom of speech but the only reason you have it is because of Patriots and Veterans from the past 200+ years. When I would answer questions on his exams I would start with “The answer you want to hear is.....” and say what he wanted to hear and then I would close with “but I have my own opinions which I will chose to follow”
I realized then that 98% of all academia are asshats but you gotta play the game by their rules to finish.
I sent a copy of that (F.S. 110) to her and told her she should resign since it is obvious she has no concept of what proper professional behavior is. It didn’t work as she just requested unpaid leave to wait until the attention shifts elsewhere.
Yes, I saw that. She transferred from Bard to FIT, so I'm guessing she either flunked out, or was on the edge of flunking out. Bard might be liberal enough to admit people who don't meet their academic standards, but I don't think they are stupid enough to allow them to graduate with a Bard degree if doing so would dilute the worth of their diplomas.
So she transferred to FIT and only got an associate degree out of her whole college experience.
What a babe...
One of Holder’s People, and therefore immune.
Does easiness mean what I think it does? And aren’t there rule about that sort of thing?
I had an English prof who was a known communist. Wore a red star on his lapel. Wore the same denim clothes everyday. Let us choose our own grades. No one came to class. What a waste.
