It is AP. Customer sounds so much less favorable to self defense than "assailant" does.

Now thats a level of stupid thats pretty hard to surpass. Of all the stores in the world where I would guess the employees are packin’ heat ... a gun store would be number one on the list (even higher than most police departments).

I have been to Don’s store when we first moved here in 02 the area is a little seedy and thought of going in with my gun loaded. But Don is a real hoot,he has a big home and on his front lawn is a Monument with the Second Amendment carved into it I’m guessing but it looked like 3’x4’. Love the quy.

Yes, indeed. Employees at shooting ranges and gun stores each generally have at least two handguns on their body at all times - and sometimes more. The owner of a local gun range in my home region ALWAYS has three strapped on - one in the back of his belt, one on his hip and another in an ankle holster. He probably keeps one in his pocket that I don’t know about.

You must be talking about the Georgetown store. I’ve never been in that one, but it does seem seedy. He used to have one on the northside on Keystone. That was a nice store and had several lanes on the range. But he sold it and it’s a Toyota dealership now.

Don “I Just Wanna Sell Guns” Davis. I miss his TV commercials.

Pretty to look at,
Nice to hold.
But touch the trigger,
And you’ll be room temperature.

I imagine it is a much bigger threat in gun stores that rent, that a customer is just unaware of gun safety and does something from moderately to very stupid.

The US Army came up with a very good rule for holding hand grenades that also applies to handguns. For most people, if it is above the level of your belt, at least part of your attention is on it. If you hold it below belt level, your mind can stray, and people will actually forget they are holding it, which can be very dangerous.

Something that irritates me in movies is how an actor, with a gun in his hand, argues with a friend of his and gesticulates with the gun. That is, waves it around like his hand was empty, to emphasize some stupid point in what he is babbling about.

But this and a hundred more things probably happen regularly when they rent guns to people. I don’t have the patience to mess around with fools.

This is the second attack that I know of that occured in a gun store that rents guns. The other did not turn out well for the perpetrator either:
