The Nordic Fighter tanker was sailing south in the Red Sea as Mohammed Ali Quanas headed west to catch kingfish on Aug. 3, 2011. Quanas began cooking the evening meal for the seven other men in the narrow, rented skiff.
They say they curved away to the northwest to keep their usual distance from merchant vessels, as did two other fishing skiffs working nearby from their home port of Hodeidah, Yemen.
From 500 meters, gunshots erupted from the tanker. Two rounds pierced the water on the motorboat’s starboard side, and a third slammed into Quanas’s face.
“He was killed while he was holding some dough for dinner,” says Quanas’s uncle.
Russian soldiers aboard the ship fired the bullets according to a report from a private security team that was also on the tanker.
The Russian Navy denies responsibility as does the company that owns the Nordic Fighter. Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, said “I’m not sure they were peaceful civilians.”
Prosecutors in Norway decided against opening an investigation, in part because of the hurdles in taking soldiers to trial.
The number of reported Somali pirate attacks from January through August 2012 fell to 70 from 191 a year earlier, and there have been none since July 27.
Quanas’s uncle says a launch carrying about 10 soldiers and a translator from a Russian naval ship approached the fishing boat and the two other skiffs. The soldiers boarded and began hitting the fishermen with the butts of their weapons, according to Hasan, Badi and Walid Abdul Rahman, another fisherman with them that day. The Russian soldiers struck Quanas’s body with their weapons to make sure he was dead, they say.
The fishermen say they motored straight home, terrified of encountering another armed tanker.

Sorry for the loss of life, but now everyone is on notice not to be within shooting distance of a Russian boat. Things are more quiet and predictable that way.

As an effort in ‘Interfaith Outreach’, may I suggest to the Muslims that should they decide to go “Full Muslim” on Democrats & RINOs amongst our elected officials, and just about any bureaucrat, they will be taking actions that will compensate for the more usual acts of Muslims.

Yes! And I was doing so well in my quranic studies (note politically correct spelling) when I was involved in a fender bender with a Yuengling Delivery van. The frosty amber fluid ran all over my face and I inadvertently swallowed a bit ... and bit more. That was 50 years ago, and being a weakling, I have followed that Infidel path instead of Muhammed, (MPBUH) (Also the Goat and Melon thing left me kinda cold).
I did have a prurient interest in a good-lookin' cousin, but even that took me from the true path of the prophet when I learned that she was adopted. Some of us Infidels can't even buy luck, I guess.
Maybe a lobotomy is the answer? If I can't get the Weltaunschung, at least I can try for the Sitz im Leben, or maybe just another Pilsener? A short one, please. Just to kick the Weltschmerz.
