Vladimir Putin says of Mitt Romney: At least he’s direct

MOSCOW — Soviet leaders used to prefer Republicans to Democrats, in the belief that Republicans were tough but more sincere and, once they made a promise, were more likely to deliver on it.

There has been a whiff of that old way of thinking in recent remarks by President Vladimir Putin, even though plenty has changed in Russia’s relations with the United States. Speaking to reporters last week, Putin said he appreciates GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s bluntness in his denunciations of Russia — because thaSarcastic? Maybe just a bit.

“That Mr. Romney considers us enemy number one and apparently has bad feelings about Russia is a minus, but, considering that he expresses himself bluntly, openly and clearly, means that he is an open and sincere man, which is a plus,” Putin said after a meeting with Serbia’s president.

“We will be oriented toward pluses, not minuses,” Putin said. “And I am actually very grateful to him for formulating his position in a straightforward manner.” t stance lets Russia know where it stands, and reinforces Putin’s opposition to a missile defense shield in Europe.

"Even the Russians are tired of our 'teleprompter' president."

Probably not - ObaMao is weak and razPutin wants a weak USA.

"Putin has also praised President Obama for his sincerity, with seemingly less spin. But even if Obama should win reelection, Putin said, someone like Romney might come along in four years, and then Russia would regret it if it had given in on the U.S. missile defense project.

WSJ - EmergingEurope has a good article on how Putin puts his face everywhere and the growing sentiment that he is trying to come across as a strongman to appeal to the Russian public. Whether it’s working or not is very debatable, as many Russians know he rigged the last election. He’s no Kim Jong Il, but I’d say he definitely is modelling himself on early Soviet propaganda. For the record, nobody pursues the Cult of Personality like Obama. Did you see him slow-jamming the news? Did you see the Greek columns? The man wants to take the title “God Of America”.

I agree with your assessment. Spot on, as you say and worth repeating.

Russia can hardly be pleased with Obama’s Arab Spring. They are having to work overtime keeping Syria in their trust.

(Article, quoting Putin) “That Mr. Romney considers us enemy number one and apparently has bad feelings about Russia is a minus, but, considering that he expresses himself bluntly, openly and clearly, means that he is an open and sincere man, which is a plus,” Putin said after a meeting with Serbia’s president.

So Vladimir bellyfeels Romney because Romney's "open and sincere"? Really?

Then he's gotta love Sarah, who can see Vladimir killing lawyers and journalists from her front porch.

The question on the Arab Spring is - who does the Muz Brotherhood hate worse - Russia or the USA?

Russia is no friend of Israel, Russia is fascist at the core similar to sharia law, and Russia will sell weapons to anyone for anything. The MB is all about hate, so they work their way down the list of most to least hated: enemies, then non-Muz allies, then Muzs of a different sect, then those in their own sect who don't toe the line.
