Mitt Romney stumbles, but don't count him out
St. Petersburg - Tampa Bay Times ^ | September 19, 2012 | Adam C. Smith and Alex Leary,

Mitt Romney should have at least as much money as Barack Obama for the closing 48 days of the presidential campaign. Polls show him neck and neck with the president in most of the key battleground states, including Florida. And voters overwhelmingly see the country heading in the wrong direction, while unemployment remains north of 8 percent.

To hear many Republicans quietly grumble and pundits imply, however, the election is all but over and Romney blew it.....

[snip of smorgasbord of anti-Romney reporting]

.....Romney has not backed off his remarks, except to say he could have phrased them better.

"We were, of course, talking about a campaign and how (Obama's) going to get close to half the vote, I'm going to get half the vote, approximately. I want to get 50.1 percent or more," he told Fox News on Tuesday.

For all the uproar over the secret recording and hand-wringing among some conservatives, the presidential race remains close and unpredictable. .......

[snip of pundit sniping]

......."Nobody's getting weak-kneed," said Brian Ballard, a top Romney money-raiser in Florida, who said planned Romney fundraisers in Miami today and Palm Beach Thursday have generated significant support and interest......

[snip of pundit advice]

...Tallahassee GOP strategist J.M. "Mac" Stipanovich said rough patches tend to be cyclical in campaigns, and Romney has plenty of time to regain the momentum.

"He can't continue this way for another three weeks and get well, but as you and I sit here talking today hopefully these are all teachable moments, and he will learn from them and move on," Stipanovich said. "What Gov. Romney has to do is prove that he's able to seize an opportunity and make the most of it. There are damn sure a hell of a lot of opportunities for him."

Obama completely neglects the terrorism — Romney’s criticism is dismissed as a gaffe.

GTH, MSM!

Voting for Romney is like crashing into a tree to avoid going off a cliff. At least there's a chance of surviving.

My most fervent prayer is that as obama has sown the wind, the whirlwind reaps HIM.
Yeah, I know that’s backwards, but far more fitting.

Given Obama's commie left, 'fundamental transformation', agenda, we should be happy when he 'screws things up'.

“Everyone, it seems, is agreed that Mitt Romney has thrown away the election with his 47 per cent ‘gaffe’, where he was caught on a hidden camera dismissing half the US electorate as welfare-dependent spongers.

This, pundits of all stripes decreed, was an “utter disaster” (Bloomberg) for team Romney. It was “politically devastating” according to Time’s Mark Halperin – and it wasn’t just liberals lining up to bash the former Bain Capital boss, Conservatives took plenty of swipes too.

But I’m not so sure that this is quite as devastating as some are making out – and for two reasons.

First, as Jeffrey Lord, a former Reagan aide and Republican party historian told me today, the remarks on welfare-dependency would strike a chord with many of America’s hard-pressed middle classes, just as Ronald Reagan did with his talk of benefit-cheating ‘welfare queens’ back in the 1980s.

“It’s still unclear to me what impact this will have,” he said “A lot of the middle class who pay their taxes are going to listen to Romney and say ‘yeah, damn right’.

“This is a sensitive subject in US politics, but this is the way the middle class feels, and have done for decades. It really does resonate with people. The Democrats are going to have to be careful, in case piling onto Romney is seen as piling on the middle class.”.......................

Unfortunately, you could substitute almost any politician’s name into that sentence and it would ring true.

....”Sununu urges conservatives to stay cool. “This provides an opportunity to pound Obama on class warfare,” he says. “The president is always out there, trying to divide America, and the governor’s response, I think, underscored Obama’s divisiveness.”

“Look, it is a requirement in this politically correct world of campaigns that you acknowledge the flaw of language immediately,” Sununu says. “But he made sure they understood that the point was a response, on his part, to the president’s class warfare.”....

They’re living in fantasy land.

Romney hasn’t stumbled.

He told the truth.

Over 50% of voters are sick to death of entitlements and overpaid government employees which are Obama voters.

THIS ELECTION IS ALL ABOUT STOPPING THE MARXIST AND HIS PARTY.

Repealing obamacare.

Don’t lose focus and don’t believe the lamestream or weak, mealy mouths allegedly on our side.

Byron York: “Salena Zito, a reporter with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, watched Mitt Romney’s Sept. 12 news conference from a diner in Wisconsin. Customers paid careful attention to the TV as reporters repeatedly asked Romney if he had made a mistake by criticizing President Barack Obama’s handling of the embassy crises in Egypt and Libya. The exchanges left no doubt that Romney’s questioners thought he had made a mess of the situation.

But Zito found an entirely different reaction in the diner. “People were just floored by the press,” she says. “The group was pretty mixed between Obama supporters and Romney supporters, and even the Obama supporters were astonished by how they felt the press was driving the story. One guy said, ‘My god, six out of seven questions were the same question.’ Another guy said, ‘Why aren’t they asking him anything serious?’”.................

Agreed, it’s likely not as bad.

— “Mitt Romney has thrown away the election with his 47 per cent gaffe”

When gaffes trump terrorism and diminution of the 1st Amendment, there should be no question about the Media’s agenda.

Romney: Palestinian truth-teller, again "With all the focus on what Mitt Romney said about Obama voters and dependents, during a secretly video-taped fundraising event, it is surprising to learn that the Republican presidential nominee had the right idea about foreign policy as well as domestic issues.

There is this three minute and 22 second video clip of Romney talking about peace between the Israeli and Palestinians that is a model of clarity.

Romney says essentially that there is little for the US to do about creating a new Palestinian state because the security problems that would be created for Israel as a result would be too imprudent and risky."..............

The media is covering Romney’s 47% comment like crazy. It’s going to be up to us to get Obama’s “Redistribution” statement out. It needs to go viral on the internet and via word of mouth. Sean Hannity is blanketing the airways with it on his radio and Cable show on FOX. But, here’s the thing: ROMNEY NEEDS TO CONFRONT OBAMA ON THIS IN ONE OF THE DEBATES!!!

What’s with all these media pundits trying to convince conservatives that Romney is doing just perfectly? It’s one thing to vote for him to defeat the kenyan. It’s another thing entirely to agree with all of his positions like a lock-step liberal would. He’s a flawed candidate and I’m not going to play “let’s pretend.”

From now on, if Romney is talking to himself on the toilet, he has to assume that what he is saying will be heard, and repeated, by someone and not say anything he would not want the world to hear. I said this already, but it needs to be said again:

ROMNEY MUST HIT OBAMA BETWEEN THE EYES WITH HIS “REDISTRIBUTION” STATEMENT IN ONE OF THE DEBATES!!!
