I think the 14th amendment says the government must treat us all the same and the entire progressive tax structure is unConstitutional.
They should not be able to take 10 from me and nothing from someone else.
They should not be giving free food, medical, housing, education to one citizen and not to another.
And if they paid Kaine’s minimum tax, they’d get more government benefits to help them cover it.
This really IMO is an unproductive focus for small-government conservatives.

If working they also pay SS taxes or at least they used to.
If living in a home they, at least indirectly, pay property taxes as well.
