The master plan connects a whole lot of cities (as I understand it).
This 60 mile stretch does nothing and will not see much use unless it is your job to maintain, run and manage it.
The entire idea is a wastefull boonedoggle that California can ill-afford to support. I predict that this will be the only section that ever gets built. It will be 3X the budget and CA will have to fork over what is over budget. The mainenance costs will be 2X the budget. The system will be plagued with problems and be unreliable to unsafe.
There will be lawsuits and investigations and by the time another section of the track is to be built, the first one will be in need of expensive renovations.
California is embarrassing and a drain on the national economy.
That Sacramento Bee article is a laugh riot. Imagine if World War II being managed the way that California high-speed rail is being handled. German Bombers are on their way to London, but before the British air force can scramble their interceptors, they receive a an urgent memo from the High Command ordering them to modify their propellers for noise reduction.
Even that seems lame compared to reality. You can’t make this stuff up.
