Washington (CNN) - Republicans are moving three staffers out of Democratic-leaning New Mexico and shifting them to Colorado and Nevada, two states where the presidential race is more competitive.

The Republican National Committee and Mitt Romney's campaign will continue to maintain staff and victory offices in New Mexico, a spokesman for the RNC said.

My read is that NM is close, but Johnson will pull a much-larger-than-normal vote in NM, so Obama will win.

“Three staffers and CNN makes it look like the RNC is abandoning NM? Methinks 0bama’s internal polling numbers don’t look too good. Right, CNN?”

I’m surprised that CNN didn’t promote moving three people as a sign that Romney’s campaign is in total disarray.

As someone else noted, Gary Johnson will likely pull votes from Romney here in NM.

Not everyone has heard of him, but he’s a former NM Gov. that left office just before we moved here, but he did a great job of turning NM around and left a good surplus when his term was over.

I hear people every day calling into the local talk radio show saying “I know he doesn’t stand much of a chance, but I’m voting for Gary Johnson anyway.” He’s got a fair number of loyal followers here.

Susana’s correct. There are retirees in ABQ and up and down the RG valley who live on low incomes but are conservative. Lots of retired military too. There are conservative northern NM Hispanics who don’t cater to Obama’s social programs that promote gay marriage and non-traditional relationships and many whose fathers and grandfathers had jobs in mining, ranching and lumbering. These are now off limits due to the enviros turning everything into an endangered species or a wilderness.

Speaking of which, there still needs to be PAC ads about Heinrich’s connections to eco-terrorists who spiked trees and plotted to blow up power lines.

Since the day before her remarks aired, NM turned up on a list as the POOREST state in the US, she almost had to. A large portion of NM residents belong to the 47%.

Hadn't seen that. But down here in the oil patch there are jobs for anyone that's willing to work and can pass a drug test. My boss drove back from Midland the other night and counted 72 drilling rigs lit up and at work. The big problem is the lack of housing for those coming in. Help wanted signs are everywhere and the local 20 page paper has two to three pages of "help wanted" ads everyday. Hopefully some of the rewards down here can through royalties be spread to other areas of the state.

It’s great that people are working down in your area and that they need more people. It is tough when there’s not enough housing and other facilities but they’ll catch up I’d think.

Glad you’re working!

I wish Romney would just concentrate on Virginia, Ohio and Florida.

My thoughts also!

I was at the state fair parade last weekend and when the obama float went by, there were no cheers or anybody taking their flyers... Take that for what you will.

If they think they have it in the bag then let them fight for it and send money there.

That what you do when you have more money than your opponent. It's a situation a candidate never wants if he's behind his opponent in fundraising. I don't know if that's the case here.

Hello newbie! Just calling you out so there’s established record here.

You are too acridly spreading bs about Romney money troubles here, LOL! And quoting nyt at it too!!! Watch your track comrade.

And the audacity of hope! The one thing Romney doesn’t need to worrying over and obumbubm does is money troubles.

Well, I sent him a check about two weeks ago, and he hasn’t deposited it yet. So I doubt he’s having a money problem.

It’s interesting that New Mexico is apparently overwhelmed with moochers. I’ve heard of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, of course, but are there that many other large Democrat parasite nests (”cities”) in New Mexico?

I used to live in Clovis, N.M., outside Cannon Air Force Base.

Seeing Gary Johnson as a spoiler bollixing up a close race between Romney and Obama makes sense.

I’ve never understood the desire to get personal w/ a fellow poster vs resonding w/ facts. Or even just laying out a reasoned response to what a fellow poster writes.

If my fellow Freeps think that I’m anti Willard, well that would be true. But what’s not true is that I’m Pro Obama.

I am not the sort of person to blindly follow any politician, just because they say they’re conserative. Actions...I need to see some proof that what a pol says they’re going to do...they follow up and actually do what they say. IMHO, Willard hasn’t done much to prove his conservative creds.

I also worry that Willard may be hurting the down ticket races. These are the races I’m working on...volunteering for. In WA state...Willard is not going to win. BUT...I’m hoping for a R Gov and a R Congresswoman.

IF...and I say IF...Willard is short on cash and/or deciding to give up on some states...fine, it’s his campaign. But what I don’t want to see happen is that the down ticket races to suffer due to Willard’s campaign choices.

Again, IMHO, this election is about so much more than Willard. My state needs a change. The country needs a change. I’m working hard to help make the changes in my state.

Probably a good move. It’s looking like NM is conquered territory.

I guess another fair weather RINO in the making...

And what about Susana Martinez strikes you as "RINO?" She won an off-year election, in which a motivated subset of the overall electorate propelled the conservative wave. This year can't be accurately compared to 2010... not with 0bama on the ballot. The Presidential election years draws out far more of the parasites, dregs and zombies than an off-year one.

But it also matters from the standpoint of running the board early....that's why Ohio, Virginia and Florida matter.

Nevada and Colorado don't close till later in the evening and Nevada has a Mormon contingent, let's not forget.

Lived all my life until last year in Ohio....it's gettable and so is Florida....the Jewish contingent is down by 7% in their support and the black community in Ohio is more likely to stay home with an "Obama hasn't done anything for me, so why should I doing anything for him." attitude. Obozo's numbers will not be as great in this community this time.....And if its rainy and cold it helps Romney as well. In November, in Ohio?.... that's also possible.

Ohio's fight has always depended on the Northeast Rust belt Cleveland area versus the central area of Columbus and the southern area of Cincinnati. Cleveland has been losing population while the Columbus and Cincinnati have been doing better and growing slowly over the years and the rural area of the southern part of the state also tend to vote more conservatively think bible voters, but not Amish. Also the Romney campaign has already called and knocked on more doors in Ohio than in 2008 by about 400,000 so far and we have a little more than a month and a half to go.

Since I don't live in Ohio anymore I can't tell you what is happening on the visual side other than to pass on what I hear from my family members, which is that signage is way down and so is the in your face support via bumper stickers and such. However, that said, I have been following some of the other freepers who are in Ohio and they are indicating that Romney is going to take it.
