I have an issue with the 47% statement as well, 47% of the people not paying taxes does not equate to 47% on welfare or supporting Obama. Many people don’t make enough money to pay taxes but are hard working and not on assistance programs (even though many do qualify) or use them for short periods and only take what they truly need. If the number is 47% receiving some payment from the government, that does not mean all on welfare either, since it would include retirees getting Social Security, government/military retirement- which is not the same as welfare.
I agree that 47% may be in the tank for Obama- have no idea but the way it was worded was not accurate- all Obama supporters are not on welfare for certain either, plenty of his supporters have mega bucks unfortunately.
Romney’s statement about the welfare leeches in the tank for Obama was dead on but using the 47% and saying it as if all receiving any money from government are dead beats for Obama is not only false it insults many hard workers and retirees that are indeed possible/likely Romney voters.
My hubby was medically retired from the military for wounds received in combat and does get a check from the government every month- he is certainly not a deadbeat and REALLY not in the tank for Obama.
Governor Martinez is not a RINO for not supporting Romney on this, she understands it was pretty convoluted as he worded it.
Please relay my Thanks to your husband for his patriotic service to America. Sorry he was wounded.
Combat military disability is by no means any handout, same with SS and Medicare, both of which we paid for in advance. Now SSI could be a very different thing as there is no arguement that some significant number of claimants are fraudulent.
