If you aren't local, Don's guns has a long history of being a whipping post for the anti's in town. He's a bit of a nut, but a local celebrity of sorts due to his crazy eye laugh and quotes in his commercials. His only remaining store is in one of the worst parts of town and has been burglarized more than a few times.
I've been in his shop a couple of times in the past... his typical customers are the local riffraff and 82 Olsmobile's sporting 24" wheels fill the parking lot. Along with gun sales, Don rents guns to the people who can take them into the back range and shoot on paid time. If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can even rent Class III weapons and shoot them onsite (I've only been told this third-hand). In my short couple of visits, I've watched the comedy unfold as untrained and flat-out stupid people unwittingly wave loaded weapons around while asking how to operate the thing. It really is a circus in that place, he's got some huge stones keeping that place open in that part of town. But he knows his niche... they keep coming in and paying astronomical prices for their beloved Hi-Point .45's and he keeps on taking their cash.

It’s the empty chair’s fault.

"Chance, who has worked at the gun store for 19 years, fired back, killing the gunman with one shot, Davis said."
I hope he gets his money from the jerks family or estate. Gotta open up bright and early tomorrow.

"It's impossible (to predict)," Davis said. "That's not even a good question. How in the hell do we know who's in their right mind today?"
Yep.

Don’t know about Indiana but in Kansas a gun store employee always carries and is authorized to shoot to kill even if the offense is theft.

The “one killed” was the perp, fortunately.

When I lived on the West Side, I shot at that store/range a few times, but ONLY when I wasn’t willing to make the hour+ drive to Atterbury or another range.
You’ve nailed it on Don. High prices to sell crap to ghetto trash and gangbanger wannabees. The range was more dangerous than the ‘hood.
Isn’t this the same store where a clerk was murdered about ten years ago?
