Chick-fil-A Sets the Record Straight
CitizenLink ^ | Sept 20, 2012 | Karla Dial

In response to media reports that Chick-fil-A has agreed to stop making charitable donations to groups like Focus on the Family, the company today released a statement to set the record straight.

Contrary to reports first made by the gay-activist group The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA) on Tuesday and later picked up by mainstream media outlets, Chick-fil-A and its charitable-giving arm, the WinShape Foundation, did not agree to stop making donations to groups that support the biblical definition of marriage in exchange for being allowed to open a franchise in Chicago.

“For many months now, Chick-fil-A’s corporate giving has been mischaracterized,” executives said in today’s statement. “And while our sincere intent has been to remain out of this political and social debate, events from Chicago this week have once again resulted in questions around our giving. For that reason, we want to provide some context and clarity around who we are, what we believe and our priorities in relation to corporate giving.

“A part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. Because of this commitment, Chick-fil-A’s giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas.

“As we have stated, the Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect — regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators.”

According to a TCRA press release issued Tuesday, “In meetings the company executives clarified that they will no longer give to anti-gay organizations.”

That was the stipulation gay activists, led by Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno, made earlier this summer, after Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy said in interviews that he and his family are “guilty as charged” of holding biblical views on marriage. Moreno vowed to block the construction of the franchise unless the company changed its beliefs and stopped supporting “hate groups.” Moreno relented to the construction this week, spinning Chick-fil-A’s statement as a victory for his side — despite the fact that it was made before he denied the permit.

Moreover, many news agencies reported that Chick-fil-A had specifically agreed not to give money to Focus on the Family or the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). NOM said Wednesday it has never received money from the foundation. Focus on the Family has.

Some people were quick to criticize the 66-year-old chicken chain for “caving” to political pressure. Focus on the Family President Jim Daly said that’s not what happened.

“Dan and Bubba Cathy are my Christian brothers and good friends. They and their company have long shared Focus on the Family’s commitment to helping build strong and thriving families — and they have in no way deviated from that deeply held and biblically inspired passion while working with the city of Chicago to open Chick-fil-A restaurants there,” Daly said.

“I feel bad the Cathys are having once again to endure media accounts mischaracterizing their values and charitable efforts — and, unfortunately, I know how they feel. Focus on the Family has for 35 years been dedicated to saving and strengthening marriages, helping couples raise happy, resilient kids and encouraging and empowering men and women to advocate for God’s truth with Christ’s heart. And still, in stories like some of those about Chick-fil-A’s efforts to expand in Chicago, we are described as being ‘hateful’ toward certain groups of people.

“How is an organization that helps save one marriage every six minutes and helps parents navigate through a crisis involving their children every 90 seconds deemed ‘anti’ anything but ‘anti-family breakdown’?” he concluded. “That’s a question we would hope the media begins to ask with more regularity of those who disagree with us and with Chick-fil-A for bringing our Christian values to bear on the work we do in the public square.”

How many losers here on FR were quick to denounce and abandon Chick-Fil-A, believing a press release made by TCRA?

That Cathy would meet with activist sodomites was bad enough, though.

Ain't it the truth - reminds me of that carpenter's Son who ate and drank with whores and scoundrels. That outraged some folks back in old Nazareth.

Good, but “T.O.M.” could also stand for “The Obama Media”

I believe it's Michelle Malkin I hear using Lap Dog Media these days. She does have a way with words.

Michelle Malkin is one of my very favorites, she makes Coulter look like a whiner.

I am so glad to see this post! I’ve already posted this link to one FReeper in particular who refused to trust CFA and instead he believed the BS the gay mafia was spewing out.

But sadly... There were so many more. There were 3-4 threads this week with misleading headlines and excerpts designed (by the enemedia of course) to lead people (sheeple) to believe Dan Cathy had caved in and sucked up (bad analogy, I know) to the homo’s.

Freepers - of all people - need to excercise caution and use a brain when it comes to the lies, disinformation and total BS the enemy is reporting.

These sleazeballs tried to characterize their backing down as a win and to damage Chick-fil-a's reputation nationwide...That's the Chicago way to turn a loss into a win. Chicago is full of scumbags like this guy.
BTW, the mass media turds will not be correcting the record on this unless they're forced to.

Spot on!

Well, to be fair, even many conservative leaders were duped. Even Pastor Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas expressed disappointment in CFA in a radio interview yesterday. Shame on him for relying on the UrineStream Media. How gullible, when the Bible tells us to be “as wise a serpents,” (healthily skeptical.)

Stop with the modern lie that Jesus "hung out" with the worst of the worst. It is a LIE. He went to rescue them, not to leave them in their condition, and certainly not to party with them. Jesus NEVER went into a house of ill repute to yuck it up with prostitutes and criminals, he met them in their homes, in the public square, but after meeting them, THEY WERE NO LONGER THE SAME if they would remain in His presence. These people were receptive to what Jesus had to say; their motivation wasn't to attack him and insist that that certain ungodly demands be met, as these homosexual activists are doing. This "commoning" of Jesus is one of the most damaging modern heresies of our time. It degrades Jesus. He came down, certainly, but to lift us up, not to remain in the gutter with us. That's a liberal "christian" position.

The Obama media is very powerful. They take a lie and spin it and spin it again, releasing the lie to ‘trusted’ media sources, but the lie remains. Good people are led to believe it because the ‘trusted’ media is reporting the lie as fact.

This is why everyone on our side should remain calm during all of the polls, the Romney attacks, etc. Obama and the gang are in panic mode, I think it’s clear to see.

Today, it’s definitely Chick-fil-A for lunch.

Amen. We now need to automatically assume that everything, absolutely EVERYTHING issuing from the Mainstream media is lies. I’m to the point where my mom is worried at my radical skepticism, but I tell her it’s essential for our survival. We’re not in the 50’s anymore; the communists are now the ones controlling our t.v. programs!

And yes, I, too, will be eating at CFA today as well.

No less a sophisticate than Esquire Mag named Chick-fil-a one of the nation's best sandwiches.

ESQUIRE REVIEW You can get a chicken sandwich anywhere, which may explain your low expectations. Boneless breast. Bun. Blah. But down south, there lives an eye-opener. A come-to-Jesus sandwich. The Chick-fil-A. Seasoned, breaded breast served on a toasted buttered bun with dill-pickle slices. No mayo. No sauce at all. Deceptively simple, yet transcendent. The hook is the breading: spicy, with an intoxicating crunch. The meat is always juicy, never chewy. The bun is like lingerie -- there, but not, providing delicious support without obscuring the main flavor. The first bite changes everything you think you know about chicken. And about the need for condiments. --Allison Glock

Here's your deluxe Chick-Filet-a sandwich:
w/ frilly lettuce leaf, vine-ripened tomato slices
cheese slice; side of hot, crisp waffle fries and large iced lemonade.
Couple containers of CFA's luscious "special sauce" and you got lunch.

Lived in Northeast Ohio all my life until last year.....I know what the Chicago way looks like.......

You can't live that close to "The Windy City of Criminals" and not pay attention from time to time.

I said the other day that we should not trust a left wing website or a homosexual one.

I couldn;t beleive it when some on here were saying” this was an outrage,” “I can;t beleve how CFA has given in” etc

I hope this is a wake up call to those freepers and others that the homosexuals always lie, the fringe left always lies and it is time for those people who fell for this wake up

Looks like a non denial denial.

They could end speculation immediately with a new donation to Focus on the Family.

I would catagorize these as social concerns or areas of interest, rather than political agendas. I like to think I can do what I want to with my money, give to whoever I want. Ditto for business owners.

correct, the homosexuals knew their kiss in and starbucks were a massive failure so now they pretend to the less radical homosexuals that they got a win.

Now they know deep down that they have failed they will try and work at CFA, act up and then get fired and then sue.

this is what homosexuals do.
They try and close down free speech, then if that does not work they intimidate and attack and mock.
if that does not work they then join those clubs, by scouts, military CFA I bet now.

Once they get in and get a job they act like idiots, get fired and then sue.
Once they win they use the money yet again to further their agenda.

it’s time people woke up about homosexuals are really like and it;s not the crap we hear a lot like”I know a couple and they are nice they want to be left alone”

BLA BLA BLA.

talked to a woman on here who said she had a new member to her church.
After a year this new member got the friendship and trust by the congregation.
The new member then told the church how he was a homosexual and how he and his partner[sick] want to be married and guess what?

yea the freeper on here fell for it and now states she has no problem

(Cackle) Notice that gay suck-up Ho'bama has not spoken out on the Chick-Fil-A brouhaha. Here's why.

"Romney's numbers shot up when you came out for same sex marriage. You better walk it back, buddy."

Walking it back.

"Duh, when I said I was for same sex marriage,
I certainly did not mean SSM for humans."
