On my first two visits to London, in 1962 and 1966, the city’s culture was thoroughly English. When I visited in 1985 and stayed in a hotel across from the Paddington railroad station, I thought I had gone to Beirut by mistake.

I recall seeing a movie in the 1990’s called My Son the Fanatic, about a Pakistani man who had moved to a small town in the north of England to escape Islam.

But his son, born in the UK, has turned into a Islamist lunatic.

A disturbing and very prescient movie.
