No the greens are up in arms about the Obama betrayal on the coal, but the vote Democrat , no matter what. The Republicans in this state could win if they would confront the Democrats with their hypocrisy. Maria Cantwell arranged for SSA/Goldman Sachs to build the receiving coal terminal in China before it had even been announced that they wanted to build a coal terminal here. They have convinced the Republicans that the unions will vote with the Republicans if they support the coal, but that is just a big lie. The unions even sent out pictures of the Republicans sitting on a stage with the union officials, laughing at the Republicans. They think it’s funny that the Republicans and the Libertarians are so stupid.

The Libertarians call the construction of the terminal a private property issue, corporate private property, that is. LOL ! We have a very odd make-up of Republicans in in my county, including members of the SEIU and teachers union, who claim to be conservative, but will fight for the unions every time, claiming to be Libertariian Republicans, who support legalized marijuana and small government, oh and Ron Paul.

On topof all that, they have turned the problem of coal dust from the trains and the terminal over to the EPA, which does not monitor coal dust.

This cartoon is in our local paper today, http://www.bellinghamherald.com/opinion/#navlink=navbar

The politics of Obama’s coal policy are amazingly complicated because much of what he is doing is through crony partners like the Carlyle Group and Goldman Sachs. Then there is the fact that the Carlyle Group gets 25% of its funding from public union pension funds in California and NY, and then Obama gets the EPA to waive the regulations for his crony partners.

The Obama links to the sub-bituminous coal go much deeper than what I have explained. First the coal in the Powder River Basin is on federally leased land mostly owned by the Crowe tribe, who have been fighting the government for a larger share of the profits for years.

The PRB coal is mostly carried by BNSF, owned by Warren Buffet, but the lines in Oregon are owned by the Wyoming-Genessee RR, who was in financial trouble because of the EPA regulations that were shutting down the coal and subsequently, the Wyoming-Genesse RR lines in the N.E. So, Obama sent the Carlyle Group into the rescue with $800 million dollars that they didn’t have.

Then there is the ILWU, the openly communist longshoremen’s union that will operate the coal terminals in WA and Oregon. The ILWU is not only openly communist, but was closely aligned with the OWS violence in Oakland and earlier violence in Longview, WA. But that isn’t the limit of the Obama ties to the ILWU. The ILWU owned the newspaper in Hawaii that they had purchased to run a propaganda campaign for the Hawaii Separatist Movement. They hired Frank Marshall Davis as the editor. So, FMD, Obama’s mentor, was employed by the ILWU, who will operate the coal terminals both in WA and Oregon and China.

Then we have Goldman Sachs which is really the deep pockets behind the coal terminal in WA. and Peabody coal, which has been receiving favored treatment from the Obama administration and last of all we have Richard Trumka, as the former head of the United Mine workers all working with Obama to ship PRB coal to China, who doesn’t want it anymore.

China told people here at a sales meeting that the Chinese market for US sub-bituminous coal was extremely time limited, 3.5 years at the outside, we are two years into this coal battle, that leaves 1.5 years left for the Chinese to buy the coal, and coal terminal, if built is about five years out.
