That is so true. I don't believe the average American is capable of understanding a Rush monologue, or the simplest Thomas Sowell economics 101 column. And we no longer educate our children, so I have no idea how we get out of this situation. A good indicator of the intellect of our population is to look at the intellectual level of the typical TV ad. The TV ad people know the intellectual level of Americans very well.
Agreed. He also tells the unvarnished truth, and the unvarnished truth about where America is headed isn’t something most Americans want to hear. As long as most are getting their bread and circuses, they just put their fingers in their ears and sing “lalala I can’t hear you”. Optimism is said to be a defining characteristic of Americans, but there’s a point at which unfounded optimism becomes life in a fool’s paradise, and Steyn seems ro know we’ve passed that point.
