Steyn: Obama from a ‘pampered and cosseted elite of no achievement’
Daily Caller ^ | 09/21/2012 | Jeff Poor

According to Steyn, author of “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” there’s some truth in all of them.

“I kind of try to wrestle with that in the book and I think there’s elements of truth in all four of them,” Steyn said. “In a way Dinesh D’Souza’s, which his movie is very — I find it in some ways the least compelling because as I say in the book, he reminds me less of a chippy anti-colonialist. And in fact, when you see him acting as president, he reminds me more of these occasional viceroys you find in dusty British colonies, slumming it on the edge of the map and giving the impression they’re far too grand for the job.”

“He’s the first president who gives off the whiff he’s just doing it until something more commensurate with his talents comes along,” Steyn continued. “So I have a slightly different view from Dinesh D’Souza. But what I think is at the heart of it is he is all too typical of a kind of complacent pampered and cosseted elite of no achievement.”

This says it all: he is all too typical of a kind of complacent pampered and cosseted elite of no achievement.

It is ironic that Jeff Poor would write this about Steyn noting Obama's education:

Steyn noted Obama’s education, but prior to hitting the big time in Democratic politics, he had little too show for it.

I concluded some time ago that both Obama and Michelle “decided” not to go into high impact law because they had neither the intellectual chops nor the work ethic.

Couldn’t cut it so they told themselves they were doing something “better” and after all, the payout has been better and the hours much shorter.

Bingo.....Affirmative Action preferences have a way of coming around to bite the recipients, and with these two charlatans, the USA.

Perhaps the first time I will track away from the great Steyn, but I believe he understates the problem. Were Obama just a viceroy in some Brit outpost, killing time until he can get a post really commensurate with his talents, the US would only need endure his tenure, but the damage would be limited to incompetence and laziness. Disouza's thesis at least gives an overall plan that he appears to be implementing, but lacking a "team" because his vision is so
particular to his own background. Kurtz's Radical-in-Chief
thesis is the complete one, because he takes great pains to show
the "team" Obama has been part of. Not even a star on the team.
But it is this team effort, with groundwork set down by Alinsky,
carried forward in the Woodstock era, on across the 80s & 90s in
community organizing, meeting world players, particularly Soros,
now collapsing the system. Obama is simply a cog (a most
unique and useful idiot), but quite inconsequential aside from his ceremonial position.

...if you’ve ever been on an American college campus and just tried to plant a new thought in this sort of indestructible faculty-lounge group think, you’ll be very familiar with the way Obama approaches these things.

You have to laugh to keep from crying.

I don’t know the exact number of liberal/leftist college professors extant in the U.S., but I’ve known my share. I’d say their view of the U.S. closely mirrors Obama’s. Steyn is correct when he says Obama is the hero of the faculty departments in many universities. They all had a smug, leftist view of how to fix things just like Obama. Smug and ignorant is a good way to describe these people.

He needs to start using his finger more effectively when he does so.

Sort of like a kindred spirit of a predecessor whose name escapes me at the moment...

"He has this kind of invincible ignorance, so that when something happens, he goes off and he flies in to Cairo and gives his usual speech, and he thinks OK, that's it, that's the Muslim world taken care of, next," Steyn continued. "And then when it all explodes and blows up in his face, he's not even interested enough to try and find out what's going on here. And I think it's that perfect pampered, cosseted, invincible ignorance. And if you've ever been on an American college campus and just tried to plant a new thought in this sort of indestructible faculty-lounge group think, you'll be very familiar with the way Obama approaches these things."

Steyn rules!

I neglected to mention Horowitz’s Shadow Party. Radical-In-Chief and Shadow Party tell us most of what we need to know, in my opinion.

A rare case of Steyn being off base for thinking that being elitist and anti-colonialist are somehow mutually exclusive.

After all Odumbo’s mentor Edward Said, was a self-avowed anti-colonialist elitist.

As George Orwell implied, some pigs are always going to be more equal than the others and Odumbo feels he belongs among the entitled pigs. A lesser man might find that believe to cause some cognitive dissonance with his anti-colonialist beliefs, but Odumbo is a better man and rises above those lesser thoughts. /sarc
