Clinton: No sign that Stevens believed he was on an al Qaeda hit list

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Thursday she has “absolutely no information or reason to believe there is any basis” to suggest that U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens believed he was on an al Qaeda hit list.
The remark came after a source familiar with Stevens’ thinking told CNN that in the months leading up to his death, Stevens worried about constant security threats in Benghazi and mentioned that his name was on an al Qaeda hit list.
Stevens spoke about a rise in Islamic extremism and al Qaeda’s growing presence in Libya, the source said.
The White House, for the first time Thursday, declared the attack that killed Stevens and three other people a terrorist attack.

I saw Anderson Cooper admit this yesterday and couldn’t believe what he was admitting CNN had done. He didn’t apologize tho.
I consider this akin to grave-robbing.
I hope the Stephens’ family sues that pants off of CNN>
This is about Hillary in flames over her red hands in this tragic ending for Ambassador Smith, and her team going into deer in headlights mode at the sound of leaking; deteriorating foreign policy, increasing Al Quaida presence in Libya and US interests in jeopardy, leaving the ambassador to believe he was on a hit list.
They worked the family against CNN to simply pull their own fat out of the fire. Naturally, the family was an easy mark under the awful circumstances and with their slain loved one also being reportedly gay, would want no scandal laid upon his name from some personal journal entry.
The whole thing stinks, particularly why the clandestine trip in the night in the first place. Ambush was written all over this. No security. No armored car, no caravan.
A deal going down of some kind to agree to this suspicious willingness for such obvious risk taking and intentional unpreparedness is all I can figure to do this trip in this way.
Astounding, if not colossal stupidity.
I think Libya should arrest AC for interfering with a police investigation, send him to a Libyan prison...and mention to the other inmates that AC likes guys...
ON the other hand, this is how we know that the administration is lying through their teeth. And the only reason the rest of the media is making the story about CNN doing this “against the family wishes” is because it hurts Obama.
