Thx, news to me. The only time I was on a boat was the ferry btwn San Diego and Coronado. I spent my time on C-121’s, P-3’s and A-3s. We wore flight suits or fatigues, typically with no cover at all (Danang).
The only reason I remember this is because of the fear I had as I walked down the side of the ship toward the wardroom in anticipation of this encounter, repeating over and over what I was supposed to say. All I really remember was that I should not remove my lid contrary to all I had been thought.
