Private city in Honduras will have minimal taxes, government

Small government and free-market capitalism are about to get put to the test in Honduras, where the government has agreed to let an investment group build an experimental city with no taxes on income, capital gains or sales.

Proponents say the tiny, as-yet unnamed town will become a Central American beacon of job creation and investment, by combining secure property rights with minimal government interference.

“Once we provide a sound legal system within which to do business, the whole job creation machine – the miracle of capitalism – will get going,” Michael Strong, CEO of the MKG Group, which will build the city and set its laws, told FoxNews.com.

Strong said that the agreement with the Honduran government states that the only tax will be on property.

“Our goal is to be the most economically free entity on Earth,” Strong said

Instead of the companies there doing pre-employment screening, I’d administer three random POST-hiring drug tests, once each month.

“If the current government is doing so bad that a nearby city is one of the leading cities for murder... How much worse can free market capitalism do?

I presume you’re going to vote Obama again.

I never vote for liberals, of any party.

You insulted, but you didn't answer the question. Government in that location is screwed up and not working. How can a free-market solution make it worse?

I predict that once it is a success some commie future president of that country will seize it all and redistribute it to the poor.

Honduras kicked out their commie presidente' ... we consciously elected ours!

IF this is true, how long will this new capitalist private city (cities) last before the heavy hand of the Honduran government starts interfering with its running?

Socialists or progressives do NOT like capitalists or capitalism in any way, shape, or form because it demonstrates the foolhardiness of their centrally planned societies.

They need to use the Swiss model for safety, i.e. every resident/household MUST have a fully loaded assault rifle on premises and pass a mandatory use test. Else they will attract the nearby riffraff like flys to poop and have crime problems.

we should try the same experiment in the US! I say, let’s make this kind of deal for Texas, not just a city, a whole state that by itself would be something like the 14th biggest economy in the world. Once we have that agreement, we could then agree to, say, use the US Constitution as written and designed for our legal framework. I worked well until the progressives and Teddy Roosevelt messed everything up.

"we should try the same experiment in the US! I say, let’s make this kind of deal for Texas"

That would be the ideal situation. If Obama wins, I predict Texas will secede.

Then Texas can be the next Hong Kong!

At that point, the biggest threat to the survival of Freedom will be from do-gooder, nanny-state, "compassionate conservatives" who do not realize they are just as Statist as the Left.
