Andrew Cohen, a contributing editor at The Atlantic and legal analyst for CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” believes Attorney General Eric Holder must resign following this week’s scathing report by the Justice Department’s inspector general, which sharply criticized the administration’s handling of Operation Fast and Furious.
“In the end, the much-heralded, much-maligned Office of the Inspector General’s report on the ‘Fast and Furious’ gun scandal tells us what we already know: Attorney General Eric Holder should resign if President Barack Obama wins another term,” Cohen wrote in a Friday column for The Atlantic.
Cohen added Holder has failed to fix the Justice Department, which he said needed leadership after the tenure of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the Bush administration.
The Justice Department’s Public Affairs director, Tracy Schmaler, has said the inspector general’s report “cleared,” “exonerated,” and “vindicated” Holder, claims that a variety of media outlets and pundits have repeated uncritically. But Cohen, a left-leaning journalist, plainly was not convinced.
“Even viewing the documents and investigation in a light most favorable to the current head of the Justice Department, even discounting the conspiracy theories offered by the Administration’s most ardent critics, the Inspector General’s report tells us that Holder ultimately failed to do what he absolutely had to do at Justice when he succeeded caretaker Attorney General Michael Mukasey in early 2009,” Cohen wrote.

Holder will never resign and O will never fire him. He will have to be frog marched out of his office screaming racism all the way.
Half the article is about how stupid Bush was. Also, calling for Holder’s resignation _if_ Obama gets re-elected doesn’t cut. Holder should resign now.
Why should it wait another 4 months? Now, walk him out now.

There is no accountability in this administration. Four more years of this lawless behavior will ruin this country.
Holder will not resign, no way, and if Obama is reelected Holder will remain attorney general unless impeached and convicted by congress, which is in their authority to do.
This, however, does not mean he escapes justice.
The best bet would be for president Romney to appoint a real “hard-ass” to be the next attorney general, with instructions that he both purge the Just Us Department of scoundrels, criminals, radicals and Islamists, and replace all federal district attorneys with equally “hard-assed” individuals, to restore credibility to the justice system.
And this will be just one federal agency that needs a major purgative. Just finding enough honest “hard-asses” to replace the profligate numbers of scoundrels in the executive branch will be a major undertaking.

Bush’s justice department had one thing going for it that His Excellency’s did not....no one died as a result of some screw up during his term of office....8 years. ... Holder should be deported to face justice in Mexcio, and probably Colombia to make amends for this tragic program.
How about tapping some of the officers from the wars in the sandpiles? Many of them have years of experience dealing with lying Muzzie scoundrels. Who would be better suited to removing the subversives? I bet Allen West could name you a dozen off the top of his head.
obama wouldn’t allow holder to resign even if he wanted to. He knows where ALL the bodies are buried from the clinton admin AND this one. He ain’t going nowhere on his own, and if he did, I doubt he would survive for very long afterward.
Obama probably just has another Eric Holder clone waiting to step in - and Holder would just move to some other Soros-funded high-paying “non-job”.
Holder would get ‘Ron Browned’ in short order, and if it looks like he will defect, is liable to be sent on a fact finding mission somewhere in a war zone in Afrabia...
