And at one time in the past, the cops would have handled the situation without shooting the man I've noticed that most cops don't carry long nightsticks anymore, and I'll bet it's for legal reasons - it might look bad on video if a cop were seen clubbing someone.
But a long nightstick would have done the job here. Not as a club, but to push and deflect.

collapsible batons...which once deployed wouldve/couldve been more than enuff to kee p the distance from a one armed wheelchair operator...be like a big brother holding lil bro by the forehead and lettin him flail...
