I’ve been holding on to a bumper sticker for a while now, originally issued during the Bush v. Kerry election. It asks “If you were a terrorist, who would you vote for?” I’m glad I didn’t have the nerve to use it at the time. Because the nerve is now available to me.
Gitmo was a dumb idea. What are we supposed to do? Keep them down there living in luxury for ever?
They are the enemy. If we would have executed them there’d have been no need for Gitmo. This is a different kind of enemy. One we’ve never fought before. And we’re never going to “win” unless we go all in.
