South Bay (elementary) principal jailed for drugs (meth)

A Santa Clara elementary school principal is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on six drug charges, including one that he offered methamphetamine to an undercover narcotics agent he met on a gay dating website.

Eric Lewis, 42, principal of Montague Elementary School for seven years, was arrested Thursday at the Caltrain station at Fourth and Kings streets in San Francisco.

When officers searched his apartment Thursday, they found a quarter ounce of methamphetamine, eight ecstasy pills, and three vials of GHB, a date-rape drug, according to Sean Webby, spokesman for the Santa Clara County district attorney.

"It was a complete shock for us," said Tabitha Kappeler-Hurley, a spokeswoman for the district. Lewis was "very collegial, very friendly - a good principal."
