TRENTON -- A bill that originated in the state Assembly and was co-sponsored by Hoboken Assemblyman Ruben J. Ramos Jr. is now wending its way through the State Senate.

The bill mandates that the state remind schools districts twice a year that the districts must enroll students regardless of immigration status.

The bill was approved 64-13 by the Assembly in June and was released Monday by the Senate Education Committee, officials said. The bill would require the state to send the reminder letters to school districts by Aug. 1 and Dec. 30 of each school year. The U.S. Supreme Court made a ruling in 1982 that undocumented children cannot be excluded from public elementary and secondary schools based upon their immigration status.

Speaking of “bills” - the state senators that pass this bill should GET a bill for the per-student cost of these “immigrants”.

Wrong. Plyler vs Doe requires the schools to enroll them. It shouldn't be an issue legally. It is the law of the land, sadly.

Another Hispano-Racist politician giving Criminal Illegal Aliens amnesty.

Illegal aliens need to be deported, not rewarded. Tax dollars should not be going to educate children who are here illegally.

When something is done for an illegal alien, that means something is not done for an American citizen or legal immigrant

That so called law was intended for the few thousand illegal alien children who were here present in the US AT THAT TIME...

It was not meant for hordes of future millions of illegal alien children...

There are right now more that FOUR MILLION elementry age illegal alien children...

Plyler vs Doe did not anticipate them nor does it allow for the education of them in the actual wording...

It is just ASSUMED...

making a big ass out of the US...

The illegal aliens are workiong the so called DREAM Act the same way...

Its suppose to be only for the “children” of illegal aliens here now...

but it will be used for all future “children” coming here illegally as well...

Nose meet camel tail every time...

Until it is overturned, it is the Law of the Land.
