A new GOP poll shows a dead heat between Rep. Mark Critz (D) and attorney Keith Rothfus (R) in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Both candidates scored 38 percent in the survey paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee and the GOP nominee. Twenty-four percent of respondents reported they were undecided.
Party committees, candidates and outside groups have barraged the airwaves in the district. But in the past few weeks, Democratic groups accounted for more airtime.
Republicans say Rothfus improved his position in the race despite the Democratic ad campaign. In July, Rothfus trailed Critz by 15 points in a similar survey from the NRCC and his campaign. This summer, a trio of Democratic surveys also showed Critz holding a smaller 6 to 10 point lead over Rothfus.
The new numbers underscore the competitiveness of the race. Roll Call rates this race as a Tossup.
The McLaughlin & Associates survey tested 400 likely general election voters in the 12th district from Sept. 19 to 20. The margin of error is 4.9 points.
The survey showed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney leading President Barack Obama in the district, 53 percent to 39 percent, with 9 percent undecided.

I despise Mark Critz, he’s a junior league Harry Reid with the same nastiness.
Propped up by union goons.
It will be an achievement to replace Murtha’s old seat with a Republican, even if posthumously.
LOL! That's him!
With redistricting this year, the demographics have made the 12th more R friendly. It's still infested with some of Murtha's union goons in Johnstown, but they're weaker than before. It will never be as much fun as beating Murtha, but a win is a win!
I agree with you, Critz is detestable, just like Murtha was.
For what it’s worth, he was preceded by a Republican (John Saylor).
The district has changed quite a bit though.
Here’s hoping Keith Rothfus can send the turkey Critz packing. ;-)
Critz is a smarmy little prick. He rode into office proclaiming that he would never have voted for ObamaCare. Then he voted against repealing it.

this was my dearly departed union dem dad’s voting district, this would be a tremendous win. My republican voting brother and i joke that the union probably still has my dad voting dem up there, 11 years after his death!
Rothfus hasn’t even been running any ads on TV. So this is good news.

His ad’s are funny, he’s trying to portray himself as pro-gun, pro-life. He’s had to shift to the right since the district was redrawn.
Thanks for posting. That’s an interesting website. I’ve been checking it lately almost daily.
