Romney's New Strategy

Romney’s New Strategy

By Stanley Kurtz

September 25, 2012 9:59 P.M. Comments0

By kicking off his Ohio bus tour with an unusually blunt attack on Obama’s big-government philosophy, Mitt Romney appears to have adopted a new strategy. Romney described Obama’s vision of government as “entirely foreign to anything this nation has ever known.” He decried ”a larger government, taking more and more, intruding in your relationship with your doctor, investing, so to speak, in companies, picking winners and losers, or in his case, losers.” Then came the biggest applause line: “That is not the America I know. That is not the America that built Ohio.”

Romney’s attacks on Obama’s 1998 remarks about redistribution could have been dismissed as an effort to divert attention from the 47 percent flap. Today’s Ohio campaign-speech appears to signal a more serious pivot. This is how Romney has chosen to open his tour of the ultimate battleground state. Gone is Obama the likable guy in over his head. Now we have Obama the transformative ideologue. You don’t need to screen clips from 2016, or even bring up European social democracy, to make the point.

Romney’s earlier strategy of depending on reminders of Obama’s failed economic stewardship to gently wean voters away from Obama wasn’t crazy. Why alienate that thin sliver of Obama-sympathetic undecideds by making them feel like fools for having supported the president in the first place? Yet that framing made the election a choice between blaming Obama for our economic troubles or cutting him some slack for having been handed such a bad situation to begin with.

This new strategy changes things. By highlighting Obama’s transformative policies, Romney gives voters a way to make sense of Obama’s role in our economic woes. This is how the 2010 election was won.

Bibi went to MIT. We were there in the mid 70s. Didn’t know he went to Harvard although he may have taken some classes there as part of the MIT Harvard cross registration

Campaigning with Paul Ryan is another good move for Romney. Together they drew large crowds in the past. I felt it was a mistake to split up, you gotta strike while the Iron is hot, but better late than never. The large crowds create the sense of inevitability, and momentum, and the Media will have to cover it.

“I don’t think this is “Romney’s New Strategy” at all. He’s carefully planned the entire campaign schedule and this escalation of the ideological element was planned for right now. The undecideds are finally start to pay attention — Labor Day is gone, the Conventions are behind us, the kids are back in school”

BINGO....

Hey Mittens, unzip your pants, show some balls, and you will be surprised how many politically incorrect Americans will vote for for you.

Remain in the missionary position and you will be steamrolled.

First of all .. Romney is not falling behind. If you go to unskewedpolls.com, you will find Romney is ahead by 7.8%.

The dems are already padding the polling date by 13% more dems and very few independents (who are currently polling about 11% Romney over Obama). This means that most of the polls make it appear that Obama is ahead.

We need to support Romney and not run around whining that Romney is not doing what we want. I’ve never been in or run a campaign - so I’m sure my ideas of what Romney should or shouldn’t do are probably not related to what’s really happening.

Bump, because I read this and it was good.

I state here for the record what I said out loud when I read this post.

If Mitt Romney beats Obama I will personally kiss his *ss in Macy’s window, if Anne says it’s OK.

“So NOW we must ALL support him, we must defend him, we must lie for him if need be, If Romney is caught on tape saying one thing he didnt want us to hear and then later says it was really something else he said we must repeat his explanation as if we heard that on the tape and say the tape was edited.”

I agree with this 100%, assuming you are not being sarcastic, which I don’t think you are.

This is how the libs play it, EVERY SINGLE TIME.

If Obama thought he could say he had smoked the peace pipe with Elizabeth Warren and it would help her, he’d say it. Well, maybe not Obama, he truly seems to care only for himself.

But Bill Clinton, now you know Billy Jeff would put on the full war paint and headdress to help that fair squaw. That is how they play the game.

We may not need to go all the way over to their way of thinking (I always remember what my kid says: that’s why we’re better than them), but we need to at least steal SOME of their plays.

The most fun will be watching State-Run Media whine and moan about the Romney “Attacks” against their beloved “Dear Leader”.

Mitt has to take his campaign directly to the people. The msm is on the obama payroll so he has to go around them, it can be done, Reagan proved that.

I said right from the beginning that any candidate who could make the election about obamas record would win in a landslide BUT, he would have to fight not only obama but his P.R. branch, the msm, and that would not be easy.

I live just outside Charlotte, remember them? Where the dim-0s had their convention just weeks ago?

You would expect to see obama posters and bumper stickers everywhere but, I havent seen ONE yard sign, and very few bumper stickers. The dim-0s have no enthusiasm working for them, but Romney has even less. Mitt needs to give the people a REASON to get excited about him, he needs to articulate a plan to put Americans back to work.

He will have to get around the msm,AKA the dim-0s P.R. branch, but it can be done. TELL the people how to make America work again, Mitt!!! AND you will win, and America will win!

The thing about that is, they are not skewing the polls by polling more dim-0s than Republicans, cause there ARE more FOOLS, than Republicans.

Romney can still win, by a landslide, but he has to tell Americans why they should vote for him. obama has already demonstrated why people should vote for him, FREE STUFF!

Romney has to show that he can make it possible for Americans to EARN more stuff than obama can give them, and in the process, earn themselves self respect, and respect of their fellow Americans.

To: Do Not Make Fun Of His Ears

Here is the campaign ad that I would like to see someone make.

THIS is what we had in ‘06 when Republicans held both houses of congress and the WH, and dem0s were running for control of congress promising “CHANGE.” How’re yall liking the “CHANGE?”

2006 unemployment #s
4.7...jan.
4.8...feb.
4.7...march
4.7...april
4.7...may
4.6...june
4.7...july
4.7...aug.
4.5...sep.
4.4...oct.
4.5...nov.
4.4...dec.

When Republicans had both houses and the WH.........................http://www.icmarc.org/xp/rc/marketview/ ... oduct.html

The 1st quarter of ‘06 saw 4.8% growth in GDP. Then came demos running for control of congress promising “CHANGE.” They won, and after 2 years in power, things HAVE “CHANGED” GDP growth dropped to negative 6%. Happy with your “CHANGE?”

OR this..............

Just like in EVERY CASE , when
Republicans pick up power, the economy does better. When dim-0s pick up power,
the economy falters.

It happened when carter gained the WH, the economy got WORSE.

It happened when Reagan gained the WH, the economy got BETTER.

It happened when clinton gained the WH, economic growth dropped from over 4%,
to about 2% 2 years later.

It happened in jan ‘95, when Republicans took over congress, the economy caught
fire and sported some of the best times in our history, including balanced
budgets and even a PROJECTED surplus.

It happened in jan ‘00 when W. gained the WH. He inherited a recession, a crashing market and 9-11 with terrorists in our country planning and training. He turned that into the longest running jobs expansion in our history with an average 5.2% unemployment number.

It happened AGAIN in jan ‘07, when dim-0 gained control of congress promising
“CHANGE” from the 4.4% unemployment, mid 4% economic growth, and the
longest running jobs expansion in the history of the nation.
“CHANGED” to depression.
