Drove out to Pyramid Lake (northeast of Reno, NV) to check out the indian reservation there. They have turned a beautiful place into a crap hole. It was like a foreign country. Yet, despite the Native Indian population being a distinct minority - they are dramatically over-represented, statistically, in the criminal justice system.

Just like Blacks and Hispanics are nationwide.

Isn't it funny how a statewide population compromising just ~20% of the state, and yet the Indians compromise a much higher rate in any given jail.

There are approximately 26,000 Native Americans in US jails and prisons who have been sent there at a rate 38 percent higher than the general population

Aside for an occasional burglary, we hare an almost nonexistent crime rate in my neighborhood. Nevertheless, I keep a loaded weapon in my glove compartment and another one readily available in my home. So do most of my neighbors. Maybe that’s why we have so little crime here. It’s great to live in a gun saturated neighborhood.
