I was thinking of a young man I met in Washington, DC some 40 years ago, who, as an underage runaway panhandling and sleeping in a park, was taken in by an older man. He was taken out to dinner, given clothes and gifts as well as a nice place to stay, and just had to provide sexual services for his benefactor.

He was also taken to parties and clubs, where he met hundreds of other young men, similarly situated. He gave me the impression it was quite common.
