Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico residents have been living under great stress in recent weeks and months due to the rising insecurity in Mexico, but particularly since Monday, September 17th, when 132 prisoners escaped from the City of Piedras Negras, Coahuila state- runned CERESO prison.
Following the mass prison escape through the front door, which Mexican President Felipe Calderon described as deplorable, the City of Piedras Negras has received a massive influx of federal and state police officers as well as military special forces. All American city, state, and federal authorities have also been placed on high alert since the September 17th prison escape.
No group or organization has called to claim responsibility for the suspicious package presumed to have a live grenade which caused the closure of the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 2.
