An Open Letter to the Biased News Media:
This election year, so much of the broadcast networks, their cable counterparts, and the major establishment print media are out of control with a deliberate and unmistakable leftist agenda. To put it bluntly: you are rigging this election and taking sides in order to pre-determine the outcome. In the quarter century since the Media Research Center was established to document liberal media bias, there has never been a more brazen and complete attempt by the liberal so-called “news” media to decide the outcome of an election.
A free and balanced media are crucial to the health of this country. It is your duty as journalists – as outlined in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics – to “distinguish between advocacy and news reporting,” while simultaneously “seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues.”
There is a reason why the media are viewed with such disdain by the American public, as evidenced by every recent poll on the issue.
You have breached the public trust by willfully turning a blind eye to the government’s public policy failures, both domestic and foreign, while openly and shamefully smearing Gov. Mitt Romney. You are:
• Painting conservative ideas as extreme, while refusing to report the disastrous consequences of liberal programs enacted since 2008.
• Submerging the truly horrendous economic conditions America is facing and focusing only on minor political issues.
• Characterizing conservatives as cruel budget “slashers” instead of responsible officials trying to avoid a debt catastrophe.
• Focusing on alleged shortcomings in Romney’s business record instead of Obama’s record as the chief executive, whose policies contributed to a failed economy.
• Deliberately covering up embarrassing government failures and scandals, including the Solyndra debacle, Fast & Furious, and national

I stopped watching the alphabet channels years ago. I just don’t find them interesting.
Starting to tune out Fox too.
Hannity is friends with everyone, fine. But, consistently has tards that make no sense on his show and I just turn the channel. Juan Williams, Rove and a few others if i really thought about it.
He constantly interrupts people before they have their say or make their point and then he will rattle off his talking points, which many times aren’t so much as a non-sequitor.
Lastly, he invites people who are skilled antagonists who yell and agitate to the point they talk over each and nothing but indiceverable cross talk is all I hear.
Whorealdo? That guy is full of $$%& his eyes are brown. He’s clearly a Democrat. Fine but, he too yells so he can be heard and laughs so everyone knows he’s in on the game and goes to outlandish extremes in conjurring up whatever crap he is spewing.
Mascara Boy is just getting to be too much anymore.
O’reilly is just old and the only thing I care for any “more” is Dennis Miller who is always witty. Saw him in San Francisco several years ago and he had me in stitches. Very intelligent humor.
Frickin Greta is a Democrat but, and I say this hugely with respect for her work, she rocks.
Just even handed for the most part. Hugely analytical and just good natured. I appreciate her intellect.
Bout the only good shows are Red Eye, The Five and “Fox and Friends in the Morning”
Ooooops! Almost forgot my Hottie Esquire Megyn Kelly. I’ll watch her program with sound off or on.
If they had a show for the weather girls I’d watch them too. Great sense of humor, all of em.

TO Vendome: Excellent analysis of the Fox personalities.
The one major criticism I have, and which you mentioned, was that O’Reilly, Hannity and Greta too often interrupt someone who is trying to answer their questions, and cuts off the endings of their answers (like em or not). No excuse for this type of rudeness.
Having been a talking head on TV since 1968 (and on radio for a while), my rule has been to always let my opponent or other guest finish what they are saying, and then they are fair game for questions, rebuttals, etc.
It is best to let a fool say something and prove that they are a fool, ignorant, or just a raving lunatic (Cornell West, for one).
Greta, outside of legal issues, is a horrible host. Rude, doesn’t know a lot about many subjects, and is very opinionated. Personally I don’t give a damn what she thinks until she has let her guests speak.
Hannity is extremely hard-working so I’ll cut him a little slack, but he does repeat his talking points way too often. He needs new information about Obama’s calamity programs.
Geraldo Rivera. A total Ahole. If I had done the crap he did in Iraq while I was in Vietnam, I would have had my ass out on the first freighter to hell. He’s not very professional, is extremely biased, and seems to parallel Obama in his personal identity crisis (half Puerto Rican and half Jewish). He loses his objectively on the immigration issue and largely ignores his Jewish identity (just like Obama ignores his white identity).
“Red Eye” and “The Five” rock. I told my wife a couple of years ago that Greg Gutfeld was much smarter than anyone supposed, and over the past year, he has emerged as one of the sharpest and funniest political commentators around.
He’s so good that when he aims at a target, he hits them between the eyes and they never know it. Also great on that show is Mike Baker (ex CIA) and Sherrod Small (the black comedian) is one of the funniest men I’ve ever heard, and politically cool. Jim Norton is Don Rickles on steroids and also one of the funniest of the newer comedians (sort of a Robin Williams on the loose).
While I like Megan Kelly, Kimberly Guilfoyle has the sex appeal, coyishness, and intelligence (as well as looks) of the best of any political analysis/commentator on TV. Lisa Wiehl is also pretty good.
In fact, the Fox Women are the smartest political women I’ve ever heard and I’ve been around for a long time. Goes to show that brains and beauty can coexist in one person (as opposed to Roseanne Barr, Joy Behar, and Madonna, who can only spew hatred and stupidityisms).
However, Democrat spokesthings like Stephanie Cutter (cute but dumb as dog crap); Debbie Wasserman-Schulz (frightening and dumber than dog crap); Nancy Pelosi (Who let the dog out?); and Maxine Waters (the latest cloning failure of mud-skippers), just go to show you that because you are in politics, it doesn’t mean that you know anything, ever tell the truth, or even make sense most of the time.
Somewhere in the 7 levels of Dante’s inferno, the Democrat Party must be doing its recruiting for their spokesthings.

The counter-media has raised this with increasingly loud voices for a couple decades. Yet conservative politicians keep taking them seriously.
Got much results? Has it reduced MSM influence by much?
Raising all this is fruitless as long as the MSM targets (conservative politicians) keep playing their game.

They probably feel they have to because the people casting ballots are watching. A friend (a retired teacher) used to have a pin that was shaped like a TV, with the words “Turn it off” on the screen (she worked in an urban district where kids could barely read); people should start wearing them, and plaster their cars with bumper stickers I’ve seen to the same effect, to get the Dem media’s attention that their hold is being broken. I thought the re-election of Bush in 2004 should have sent the message, but then they successfully sabotaged McCain/Palin (and have pushed the envelope to the farthest they’ve ever gone with their Obama-worship).
I have tuned out of the alphabet channels as well, everything is recorded, rarely do I watch anything live, purpose is to skip the commercials or some interview I could care less about.
They pay millions to people to organize an early morning news show, what commercials, what timing of commercials, the content, and even when to show their “Breaking News” to some extent, how to add teasers so you will want to still be hanging on slack jawed after your committed dose of advertisements.
I get up in the 0 dark 30 hour and news has already been ongoing like FOX, so I have about an hour or two before its live, gives me enough time to jump between segments and commercials. Being in Alaska the east coast news has already been up and running for a couple of hours.
Tech has improved with recording and the ability to jump past commercials. I use it a lot.
I’ve been tuning them out. Heck, I’m even tuning out Fox News these days with the exception of Hannity. I really can’t take Britt Hume, O’reilly and Bill Krystal. They seem to be on team Obama.

What Can One Person Do?
Citizens Coalition for Responsible Media, a Free Republic Network chapter, came in to existence on January 24, 2001. Since that time, there have been numerous excellent suggestions regarding “what to do?” about media bias. They range from BIG (buy a television station, start our own newspaper) to small, individual acts (write a letter).
Taking CCRM member suggestions of things individuals can do to combat media bias, they form what amounts to an “Activist Handbook”, a tool that might be helpful to the wider public who share our concerns about media bias.
Educate yourself and stay current on media bias news:
Visit Media Research Center website and read their “How to Identify Liberal Media Bias” and Media Bias Basics.
Subscribe to Media Research Center’s “Cyber Alerts” to monitor media bias.
Subscribe to the email AIM Report.
Complain to the media!
Contact the offending media pointing out/complaining about bias;
Write “letters to the editor” raising the issue of media bias;
Write/FAX letters to commercial sponsors of media, either in support or protest;
Write letters of support/appreciation when media provides fair and balanced coverage.
Get to know the Editor and News Editors of your local newspaper; call them to point out bias, and write “Letters to the Editor” frequently - persistant pressure from squeaky wheels can bring about changes.
When you identify bias and write a letter, post the details on yahoo and other internet message boards, the CCRM and/or FR forum encouraging others to also write letters.
Monitor your local radio stations, as well as local television, for bias. Telephone them with your observations of bias in local reporting; and be sure to follow up with a letter or email that reiterates your phone call (according to the “FCC Handbook”, stations are required to maintain a “public inspection file”, and as part of that file, they must retain all written comments and suggestions - including email - received from the public regarding their operation for at least three years.)
When writing to the network television stations, be sure to cc your local affiliate (see FCC regulations, above).
Email articles from FreeRepublic.com, CNS and other conservative news sources to your friends and aquaintances, and promote more balanced news sources, whether it be Fox News Channel on TV or CNS.com on the internet.
Recruit others to our cause/educate the public about media bias:
Create and distribute business cards promoting FreeRepublic.com/media bias messages (see Business Card Thread on Free Republic.
Distribute flyers (putting them in magazines in waiting rooms, libraries, public bulletin boards).
Display bumper stickers (order here at FreeRepublic.com, “FR Stuff”).
Use tag-lines, such as “Avoid Media Spin... FreeRepublic.com”, whenever you post anywhere about anything, including email signatures.
“Freep the Internet”: Interjecting on internet forums, message boards, and FreeRepublic.com that their “pet causes are being LOST almost solely because of the constant action of the STATE MEDIA ORGANS.”
Join Yahoo e-Groups where you can spread the word on message boards and send out “alerts” on media bias news pertinent to the groups you join.
Have a rubber stamp with media bias slogan made, and use it on all outgoing mail to spread the message.
If your cable company does not carry the Fox News Channel, write them, call them, fax them, demanding they add it to their “basic cable” lineup!
“Freep” C-Span’s “Washington Journal” with telephone calls pointing out media bias (weekdays, 7am-8am ET).
Take every opportunity possible to phone in to your local radio talk shows spreading the media bias message; and don’t forget, many radio stations also have message boards you can post to!
Contact other local letters-writers: One CCRM member wrote, “One of my fun specialties is to read the letters-ot-the-editor. When I see a letter from someone who obviously has conservative leanings, I try to find the name and addy in the phone book. I then write a note of congrats to the writer and enclose my FreeRepublic.com card. Happy to say that in the past year, I have picked up two freepers and lurkers in this manner. We are also on each others emailing lists. A year ago we were total strangers! This is an idea for working on the local level - and getting a sense of satisfaction for accomplishing something!”
Encourage your friends, acquaintances and co-workers to do all of the above.
Encourage “right-minded” young people to seek careers in journalism, especially at schools where leftist drivel isn’t a state religion.
Support CCRM efforts:
Participate in CCRM projects, such as Operation RatherNOT.
Participate in CCRM “Outrage of the Week” (bookmark website, new Outrage will be posted each Monday).
Keep the media bias issue on the front burner, so to speak, on FreeRepublic.com and other internet boards. Post relevant media bias articles to the FR forum. Flag “CCRM” to media bias threads; search FR using “to: CCRM” to find and contribute to the discussions on media bias threads.
We also need to REMEMBER, to recall the anger and despair, the helplessness and resolve we felt in November and December 2000. Never again, we vowed. Complacency must not be allowed to eat away at the absolute necessity to succeed.
