There are plenty of women who have ended up moving in with mom and dad (or never leaving) as well. My sister was one, she had to move back in with them after I refused to keep letting her live with me without paying rent. Finally, after years, she got her own place again just this year.

The main reason that you see this more with men than women is not just the economics of women making more money, or men being lazy. It’s because women are insulated, by virtue of their sex, from the economic pitfalls that send men back to mom & dad’s house. If a woman loses her job, and can’t pay her rent/mortgage, she is not going to end up homeless, because she will have no trouble finding a man to provide her with room and board in exchange for sex. Even the ugliest, most unappealing woman can find some man that is willing to barter for her assets. Men simply don’t have that option, which is why we end up homeless or living with the parents in much larger numbers.

After college, single men don't generally like living with other men... especially in groups of 3 or more.. I know many female living arrangements where there are 3-4-5 younger women living together and sharing expenses...rarely see this with men..not to say it doesn't happen.
