Hoekstra says he'll catch Stabenow as voters focus

ELK RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra couldn't have asked for a friendlier audience than the workers of Traverse Bay Manufacturing Inc., who are fighting mad over what they consider unfair competition — not from China or India, but from their own government.

[Snip]

"We're the underdog, we're behind," Hoekstra said in an interview after his factory visit in the Lake Michigan town of Elk Rapids. "It's been a very sleepy race ... pretty much been frozen in place for the last eight, nine weeks. But we think that as people start to focus and as we're able to get our message out there, we can close that gap and we're going to win."

Lansing-based political analyst Tom Shields said Stabenow's support is soft and there's still time for Hoekstra to gain ground.

I might throw him some cash before Sept. 30 quarter.

He might be the 51st vote against Obamacare in the Senate.

Let’s go! We must do our duty to throw out every DemoRAT Senator
who voted for Obamacare!!

Bob Casey in PA,,, DONE in... TOM SMITH
Clair McCaskill in MO DONE in... TODD AKIN
Deb STabenow in MI DONE in... PETE HOEKSTRA

Who else is it our duty to run out of office on a rail????

ESpecially the SENATE???

Oh yeah....the Akin before the Akin. Idiotic chinese chick ad. Oh boy, what is the GOP up to these years? They are determined to lose elections I guess. Christine and Sharon in 2010. Akin and Peter in 2012.

Well, then the Romney - who can’t express an idea in a good sentence.

Maybe if some on our side stopped obsessing about “gaffes”- or worse yet, things the left-wing media tells us are gaffes, but really aren’t- and focused on important things, we wouldn’t have this problem.

Did Barack Obama lose a minute of sleep when he ridiculed Special Olympics athletes on national TV? I think not...

Yep. His spokesman says he's only trailing by 4-6% . This race could surprise a lot of people.

GOP has the media problem. Since time immemorial. Atop nominating losers like Christine, Sharon, Akin and Peter. At least that will get you somewhere. That is my point.

Of course, you and millions others can disagree. Beat my point of view up. And, keep losing elections.

I think things will tighten up. This race hasn't gotten a lot of attention but Hoekstra is a pro.

Just keep playing her clip about "feeling" global warming on a plane over and over and over .... can't fix stupid.

Most progressives can't vote for someone they think is stupid ... make her stupid ... suppress the progressive Democratic vote ...

I saw my first Hoekstra sign today and I drive alot. Up to then, I’ve seen neither hide nor hair of the Hoekstra campaign. I’ve seen dozens and dozens of signs campaigning for sheriff of the various counties.
