That this PC windbag (Diane, not Mike) could find the time to collect such a mindless, vapid catalog of cliches, pap, and pleonasms means she doesn’t have nearly enough to do.

"Chicana/o Studies"

Good grief.

At least she didn't use "Latina/o".

As a person w/ actual Latin blood I'm starting a campaign to eliminate the usage of that designation by S. Americans/Carribeans/Mexicans.

Simply because they've bastardized our beautiful language gives them no claim to the rich heritage of true Latins.

I learned at an early age not to use the same word too many times in a paper.

That was, I think, in 4th grade.

I guess they’re not teaching THAT any more.

I was OK with these groups until she got to Armenians. Everyone knows that Armenia stole their name from America. They just don’t like “c”s or something.

My chat and text messages are better written than that piece of junk.

You’re right-in school-when you were actually taught real English usage- using the same word over and over in a story or what have you, was an automatic deduction off of your grade.

But with “Pass/Fail” grading, it really doesn’t matter anymore...

Funny how she keeps talking about DIVERSITY, yet NONE exists in her own written material!

I hope there is a /sarasm> tag there because the name Armenia was given to the country by the surrounding states, and it is traditionally derived from Armenak or Aram (the great-grandson of Haik's great-grandson, and another leader who is, according to Armenian tradition, the ancestor of all Armenians).

Otherwise you sound like a fool

WTF is “Chicana/o Studies”?

I’m thinking something along the lines of leaf-blowers and pushing baby strollers.

They also have a pleonasm on display in a glass case right next to the skeleton of the thesaurus.

Northridge is a “small college” with 35,000 students.

Interestingly, this is in stark contrast to Hebrew, where using the same root multiple times increases the precision yet changes the implications. English must employ more than one word each with subtly different meanings. As a set membership v. overlap problem, the distinction is rather interesting.

If this idiot's drivel is what Mr. Adams chooses to discuss, it looks more to me more like he is running short of material. That's the problem with blogging. The pressure to keep coming out with articles almost daily to keep people coming back induces a quality problem.

I love language and all it has to offer-(and I really hate to say this but what the heck)- because it IS so diverse.

To me, languages use different paths to arrive at the same location.

I prefer the word "variety" to diversity.

diversity is a liberal code word for intolerance of white, Christian, heterosexual, conservative, married males.

Diane Harrison is clearly intolerant of and discriminatory towards white, Christian, heterosexual, conservative, married males.

Her office needs to be liberated and occupied to send her a clear message about her intolerance and discrmination and raise her consciousness.
