Group sues to remove Ten Commandments from Connellsville school [New Twist]

The Freedom From Religion Foundation, along with an anonymous parent and student on Thursday filed a lawsuit against the Connellsville Area School District seeking to have a Ten Commandments monument removed from Connellsville Junior High and to block its placement at a nearby church.

In a lawsuit, the plaintiffs claimed constitutional violations with the religious marker at the public school and possible further infringement on their rights if the monument is relocated near district property.

. . .

Though the monolith would be on private property if moved to the church, the fact that the district is aware that the monument could be erected again for religious purposes could pose a problem, said Sara Rose, staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union in Pittsburgh.

The challenge would not be against its placement; “it would be more the conveyance of the monument to the church,” Rose said.

This is different from most of these cases because the atheist cabal has upped the ante. Not only do they want the 1957 monument removed, they want to prevent its donation to a local church located near the school property because it is the property if the district.

Connellsville is the first Amtrak stop southeast of Pittsburgh on the rail line to Washington, DC. The town is quite religious (both Roman Catholic and Protestant) and quite united in their refusal to let the atheist lobby kick sand in their faces yet another time. Ten commandment lawn signs are popping up all over town even though people have to buy them as a fund raiser to help the school district defend legal costs.

Atheists always win. Why are they so upset by something they don’t believe in? But, as Obama has told us, America is no longer a Christian nation. If we were, he never would have been elected.

I would like to be free from the religion of people being free from others’ religion.

We need to start playing the Muslim game.

We’re gonna have to do it with the muzzies, and we may as well throw in the obnoxious form of athiests whilst we’re at it.

One Student an that students parent have more power than the rest of the Community. Is that what being in a Republic means.

It has gotten ridiculous that what offends one person has to be removed.

If it offends me and I am in the majority, it doesn’t mean anything.

I am offended that I have to go to the polls this year and vote against same sex marriage. For thousands of years it has been recognised that queers are mentally ill,now they want to destroy the sanctity of marriage for 1% of the mentally ill.

So they can't move the monument to the church because the plaintiffs will still be aware of the monuments existence?

It is not clear from the article; what would the offended like to become of the monument?

They want a religious monument destroyed. Like the Taliban does.

Just once I would like to see the parents from one of these schools march on the building where these assholes do their deeds, and proceed to dismantle the place by hand.

It wouldn’t take all that long for a thousand people to do it.

When they were done, there would be nothing but and empty lot and nicely raked dirt where the building used to be.

One small sign would remain:

Here was the last place in ‘state your city name here’ where folks tried to destroy our culture and values. ‘place the specific date here’

It would be really intersting to hear them try to explain how their Constitutional rights and/or civil liberties are being infringed upon. I guess they will be even more emboldened after the deal about how citizens “abuse” their Freedom of Speech and that the result is a “natural” series of protest/riots/murders in the muzzie world...

Your guess is as good as mine.

My guess is that they will still choose to be offended because they might see the monument on the church grounds next to the school.

The only thing which would satisfy them would be outright destruction or sale as scrap where it would have no chance of being used as its intended purpose again.

Such is the mentality of the ACLU and the sorry organizations and people who work with them. It would be good, however, to force them on record to answer the question.

By the way, many of us feel offended every time we walk by the ACLU building in downtown Pittsburgh.
