Panetta: We’ve Lost Track of Syrian Chemical Weapons
FP ^

Posted on 09/28/2012 12:19:33 PM PDT by Perdogg

The U.S. has lost track of some of Syria’s chemical weapons, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Friday, and does not know if any potentially lethal chemicals have fallen into the hands of Syrian rebels or Iranian forces inside the country.

“There has been intelligence that there have been some moves that have taken place. Where exactly that’s taken place, we don’t know.” Panetta said, in a Pentagon press briefing.

Panetta: We’ve Lost Track of Syrian Chemical Weapons

I question whether they ever actually kept track. Not likely they could track it all. So what's his real motive for this sudden announcement that some are "missing"? As another poster pointed out, this isn't the kind of thing that's usually announced (for obvious reasons). Obama's bureau of disinformation is "leaking" again. What's his angle this time?

“if we had knowledge that 15,000 samples of MANPADS as old as the SA-7 were in the hands of AQ, then that instead would be news, and it would be very bad news.”

Yes indeed.

Deflection or subject change. I have a "funny" feeling something big is about to surface from the entire Middle East failure and it may not even involve Israel directly. As if the compromised intelligence and deaths weren't enough in Benghazi.

Al Fuqra has one of their enclaves near to one of the actual known and unrecovered broken arrows.

The device is burrowed into swampland.

No but I haven’t gotten to hear Hannity without interruption. Got several calls, etc. my guess is that something is going to break soon and Hannity knows about it but is not at liberty to say yet.

Panetta is the incompetent clown who disarms the Marines, in a theater of war, when he feels like it gives him a thrill.

So what you are saying is if the chemical bombs are used then its not your fault because you lost them??? Superb work a**clowns. Panetta would be responsible for the chemical bombs like Obama is responsible for GhaziGate and the deaths of 4 diplomats and I believe 40 protesters. They were protesting because of his lies.

You'd think that, but the fact that Panetta is saying this publicly is telling us he has a "get out of jail free" card, to use the Clear and Present Danger meme.

You know, this kinda stuff always happens when you put idiots in charge of anything .... Panetta couldn’t find his a$$ with both hands if he was given detailed instructions and help from one of his queer soldier buddies!!!

Gaijin- “Your link only overviewed MANPADS up to the SA-18 model and did not include the SA-24...”
_________________

“Although there have been news media reports of the more modern Russian SA-24 Manpads in Libya, there is no evidence yet to support the claims, American officials said. The SA-24s purchased by Libya were part of a vehicle-mounted system, the evidence suggests, and were not configured for shoulder firing. No SA-24 grip stocks or paperwork for grip stocks have been found.”

NYT Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/23/world/africa/us-seeks-program-to-buy-up-missiles-loose-in-libya.html?pagewanted=all

Note that this is a reference to the CREW SERVED SA-24 not the MANPADS version. From what I have read, originally an observer in post revolution Libya had identified an empty crate at a looted arsenal as having contained a MANPADS SA-24; however, this was later discredited as the crate markings indicated the heavier, twin tube, crew served, mounted version and the observer later recanted his original statement to reflect the latter conclusion.

What is the real truth? ...who knows!

I like your “handle” foreign devil!!!

Regrads,

-Geoff

I don’t know, but our excuse is always we have to work and don’t have the time. What? No time to fight for freedom?

Well, from what I see this is the most common EXCUSE!
So, we are going to end up dooming our kids, who we claim to be caring for, too busy to fight for freedom.

I have about given up. I guess we are willing to sacrifice ourselves and our kids because we want to keep up the current lifestyle.

I have become sick of conservatives using the “I can’t do nothing because I have to work,” as an excuse to give Obama free reign!

so, we helped stir up that hornet's nest in Syria (yes WE did) and never had any plan (as we did in Iraq) to secure Assad's WMD stores?

think back to all the “woulda, coulda, shoulda” scorn heaped on GWBush for what was said to be missing from the Iraq war plans;

yet, Obama, continuing on a 10 year old regime change agenda against Syria, and depending on “on the ground” operations to be covered mostly by Saudi Intel services and the Syrian wing of the MB, decided that the “Arab Spring” meant it was time to prick the dictator in Damascus, even though the foreign created and backed “opposition” was not actually prepared and ready to take him on. and finally, very belatedly someone starts to wonder where Assad's WMDs are stored???
