“He made an inelegant statement, rooted in outdated science, which the left has gleefully taken out of context and cynically used to paint him as both anti-woman and insensitive to the unimaginable plight of rape victims.
This characterization of Todd Akin the man – as anyone who has known him will attest – could not be further from the truth.”

This is the impression I had when I first heard Akin interviewed by Hannity.

“Isn’t it time we begin placing people of character, true leaders and true statesmen in a U.S. Congress full of politicians? Todd Akin is a man of character, a true leader and true a statesman.”

Great article, by the way.

The GOP needs to get behind him with some money soon. This seat is winnable. I don’t care what Cornyn says.

It is obvious that the real problem the Liberal Pro-Abort PhonyCons have with Akin was his strong conservative stands...not his statement

Note that the same Liberal Pro-Abort PhonyCons said nothing when Karl Rove threatened to “kill” Akin....of course, the PhonyCons love the subversive Rove....

Bond reverses, backs akin
JEFFERSON City, MO. • Former Missouri Sen. Kit Bond is now supporting Todd Akin’s Senate campaign after previously calling on him to quit.
Bond’s endorsement today marks an encouraging sign for Akin, who is trying to rebuild support among the Republican establishment after remarking last month that women’s bodies have ways of avoiding pregnancy in what he called “legitimate rape.”
Bond was part of a coalition of past and present Missouri senators who had urged Akin to drop out. But Bond now says he believes Akin’s apology was sincere and will help his campaign against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. Bond says, quote: “It is time to focus on the national stakes in this election.”

Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt also recently backed Akin. But former Sen. John Danforth is still not doing so.
