Obama administration tells contractors again: Don’t issue layoff notices
The Hill ^

The Obama administration issued new guidance intended for defense contractors Friday afternoon, reiterating the administration’s position that the companies should not be issuing layoff notices over sequestration.

The Labor Department issued guidance in July saying it would be “inappropriate” for contractors to issue notices of potential layoffs tied to sequestration cuts. But a few contractors, most notably Lockheed Martin, said they still were considering whether to issue the notices — which would be sent out just days before the November election.

Don’t send those notices out. let’s make it a surprise! Workers love surprises. Don’t you just love this “most transparent administration” in history?

Any contractor that doesn’t give the warning notice WILL have to legally cover it out of his pocket - unless Obama can figure out a way to waive it, or make up the difference. Anyone working HR at those contractors who don’t follow the law here risks jail time.

They’re welcome to take Obama at his word...but there’s an awful long history of people that have done that and ended up quite disappointed.

Before laying off employees, business owners need to consider WARN Act requirements. In 1988, Congress passed the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. This law specifies which employers have to provide notice to their employees about future layoffs. The law, updated in 2009, also specifies how companies may notify employees and what information they must provide. The WARN Act's purpose is to act as a protection for workers who will lose their jobs. Just one in a long list of laws that this clown wants to ignore for political purposes. HOWEVER in this case the contractors (private enterprises) will be on the receiving end of employee lawsuits.

THIS BUFFOON MUST GO.

The order is already in the book. The liberal playbook is right out of Atlas Shrugged. They think they can change the ending. One of the biggest Libs I know, an Obama elector last election, has this on his desk front and center.

already started...

BIG FLATS, N.Y. (AP) — Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., citing declining military budgets and a tough economy, said it will close its plant in upstate New York and eliminate all 570 jobs.

Employees at the 5-year-old facility, which has seen its ranks dwindle from a peak of 1,300, were told Monday that the plant would close as of Dec. 31 and its work transitioned to Sikorsky's West Palm Beach, Fla., facility.

Obama can just tell them not to obey a law?

Most likely there are contracts involved especially if unions are involved. Is Obama telling them to ignore legal contract clauses concerning layoff? Keep an eye on this one.
