It is startling how few Jews there are, yet how large they loom in world affairs.
I am always amazed that 1 billion muslims and millions of other anti-semites around the world spend their entire lives obsessing over 13 million Jews - a miniscule percentage of the world population.
In that respect I see muslims as the Wiley Coyote component of the world population, endlessly cooking up plots and Rube Goldberg (no pun intended) schemes to wipe out the Jews. Yet, since WWII, the Jews always manage to thwart the anti semites and let them display to the world how foolish they really are.
Except in the Obama era, no one is laughing at them.
Yes, but in many cases, Jews are their own worst enemies. Throughout our history, we have danced around the golden calf on many occasions.
There are stories about Jews who escaped the Nazi death camps and returned to their old neighborhoods to warn their fellow Jews about what the Nazis had in store for them. They didn’t want to believe it. They couldn’t believe that those cultured Germans, who gave the world Beethoven and Goethe, could be capable of such babarism. The Poles, Ukranians, and Romanians, yes. The Germans? Never.
Now history is repeating itself. College Campuses and artsy Left wing Bohemian neighborhoods are now the biggest hotbeds of antisemitism in America today, with their foaming at the mouth hatred of Israel. But Jews blow it off because they have so much respect for higher education and big city intellectuals.
They can’t believe that the gun toting, pick up truck driving, Bible thumping good ol’ boys in flyover country are their best friends in the world today, for the same reasons they didn’t fear the Germans.
