Your Universal Service Fee at Work (The Obama Phone)
American Thinker ^ | 9/30/2012 | Rosslyn Smith

That Universal Service Fee we pay as part of our phone bill each month has helped double the number of "free Obamaphones" in the hands of people in Ohio since last year to more than 1 million. While the mainstream media has ignored this story, the Ohio press is covering it. Maybe interest in the You Tube rant of the now infampus Obamaphone Lady, now at 2.2 million views in three days, will help get out the story of how this program skyrocketed in a key swing state. Then there is the issue of the dubious ethics of having private businesses both actively promote a government welfare program and name it after an elected figure in their marketing materials

HOw much of the added fees in my power bills go toward paying bills for this type of person.

And by “type,” I mean lazy-azz who wants freebies.

What I want to know is if the recipients of these taxpayer supported phones are also getting text messages from Obama and the DNC.

James O’Keefe needs to get an O-phone stat. They seem to hand them out like candy, I’m sure he would find a way to “qualify”

Read on:

Just how extensively has this program been marketed? Here is how one multimillionaire Democrat Senate from a swing state reports how she became a critic of the program.

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., received a mailed solicitation last year informing her she was eligible for a phone, leading her to question the program.

"I am troubled by the expansive potential for the program to be abused," McCaskill wrote the FCC in December.

No kidding.

Ms. ObamaphoneLady needs an Obamaphone so she can call her mom to borrow $18,000 to pay for the birth control that Mitt Romney will deny her by repealing the Affordable Care Act...

And what happens if the phone they’re issued is lost or destroyed? Are they provided with a new one free? I pay insurance every month on the phones used in my plan, to cover things like that.

Did you even read the article? What began, under Reagan, as a means to provide LAND line service to medically impaired has continued to grow over the years, and - since 2008 - now includes CELL PHONES for those economically challenged.

Maybe so the recipients can receive their Obammy/DNC texts...just in time for the elections :( All on OUR dime!

On Friday I dropped off a bag of fresh tomatoes from my garden at the local foos shelf. There in the parking lot was a small open tent with the words written on the awning in very ARGE letters)!) FREE PHONES”.

And there was a line up of persons there to get their free phones in central Minnesota.

We need to get this message out to our fellow conservatives. This will contribute to bankrupting our country. It includes free minutes too!

Don’t believe everything you read. Welfare recipients have been receiving free cell phones for many, many moons. At least here in Arizona. I repeat. This isn’t an ObamaPhone thing. He’s just taking credit for it again. The cell phone thing was Algore’s baby.

The Obamaphone’s unique feature: when it crashes, it blames your previous phone.

I am sure that they would simply get a new one.

I could understand this program if, *IF* it was restricted to only dial 911. NO texting. NO camera. NO internet. NO free minutes to call your pimp - bookie - dope dealer - fellow gangbangers . . . etc.

Seem a little unfair that some folks that can barely afford their own basic phone service are expected to subsidize cell phone service for others. I guess the ultimate goal of the obamanation is total equality in poverty.

Ah, in Responsiblityville, that would make perfect sense.

Unfortunately, to the libs and those they keep on their demoralized plantation, that would be like limiting food stamps to only purchase milk, bread, cheese and beans. They want their dependents to have ALL of the "essentials"...like champagne, beer, steaks, lobster, etc.
