" Those computers are supposed to be on a totally separate network with no connection to the “outside world”. "

Disclaimer:
( If the press and the media did their jobs and had more journalistic integrity then people would not wildly speculate )

Barack Obama " The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are those with something to hide. "

And just think ? we were told that this would be the most transparent and open administration ever...

Unless someone or some group of people in the White Hut helped the Chinese hackers open the gate for this security breach, more than likely it was a inside job.
Motive ? to use as a excuse to shut down the public sector network of the internet.

What could be the name of this national security security scandal by this Administration ? ?

Fumble the Footballgate ?
Help the Chinese hackers from the White Hut gate ?
StupidGate ?
Gate wide open gate ?

“classified computer systems were compromised in the past using several methods. They include the insertion of malicious code through a contaminated compact flash drive; a breach by a trusted insider, as in the case of the thousands of classified documents leaked to the anti-secrecy web site Wikileaks; and through compromised security encryption used for remote access to secured networks, as occurred with the recent compromise involving the security firm RSA and several major defense contractors.”

So it is irrelevant and obvious that the WHMO is not connected to the Internet. They would not be that dumb.

I have no actual independent knowledge of this incident, but this article is written in such a way that it’s very likely exaggerating what was compromised, based on Gertz’s M.O.

Since the other thread is locked, I will reply here. You have no knowledge but your personal speculation is good enough, and you point out on the other thread that the Navy said Gertz was wrong about submarines in the GoM, so he must be wrong about this too.

Yes and nearly every one of those govt workers has internet access. Even secure federal govt networks have connections to the internet, not all but many.

The govt doesn’t follow its own rules regarding computer security.

That is kinda my read on Gertz too. He has some excellent sources in the military and intelligence apparatus. I definately would trust him over anything that came out of this White House. They are demonstrable liars.

Ah yes the flash drive found in the Pentagon parking lot...

I remember that.

Then that little freak bradley manning who should have already faced a firing squad instead of getting his three hots and a cot.

“So it is irrelevant and obvious that the WHMO is not connected to the Internet. They would not be that dumb.”

When it comes to nukes, both the AF and Navy take the matters very seriously. And being that the breach happened in the White House, and with the current administration’s known hatred of the military and this country in general it would not surprise me one bit that someone from the administration could have done something to allow outside access.

As others have pointed out, the Chinese are constantly trying to attack our computers. There were two major attacks—in 2003 and in 2006. Titan Rain and Shady RAT, presumed to be initiated by China.

Saw the headline and thought Jay Carney had finally lost it.
